Sorry for such questions but I'm planning my first 2 DoF set up on a budget.

I've haven't seen a straight forward answer or explanation of where everyone is getting their U joints from. Are they cut off of driveshaft from cars?

Also are there motors that can be used other than car window washer motors and crabpots I may be able to source locally?

Generally cutting down and old car tailshaft is the cheapest option.

The other is to buy 2 Uni-joint flanges and a new uni-joint of the proper size for them.

    Hi,

There are 2 types of people, those who can weld and those that can't. I am in the "can't" group. I just picked a UJoint up from frex (Japan). I am in the US and was a little hesitant purchasing from an overseas website ( don't mind me, I am paranoid web developer). Nevertheless they took PayPal so I gave them a try. I ordered and 9 days later it showed up. I am pleasantly surprised.
