Hey guys and girls, got question for you. I had my trusty Thrustmaster Rallye RGT FFB since 2011. About a year ago I rebuild it/ upgrade it with bigger 360W motor, 2000 PPR encoder, modified for unlimited rotation all controlled by SMT32 running EMC. Had lot of fun since, great upgrade, but yesterday lost tooth on one of gears resulting in ffb lose in that "area of gear" making wheel unuseable for racing. Repairing it meaning getting new gears, most likely steel gears, then disassemble like 90% of wheel, including wires in order to get to gears and diy crap out of old gear belt system to make it work and... meh

I am not really sure if it's worth that much effort at this point.

Question is then: Fix it (if lucky) or move on? Probably building some DD wheel. I would love to join MiGe Club. Or any different approach for DD maybe?

You have had a decade of use out of the Thrustmaster, I would suggest moving on and if affordable to a DD wheel, the difference will be immense as technology has come a long way over that time.

my first decent wheel, was a DRIVING FORCE for gran turismo on ps2 ( some others on sega saturn, ps1, nintendo 64, dreamcast... ). Since then: g25, g27, thrustmaster t500rs (2010-2018), fanatec csw 2.5 (18-20) and now fanatec DD2 (20-actual). DD its a game changer !!

Kinda like "Let it die already? :D You know how many broken wires I fixed and how many pieces of plastic glued back? Most of the mechanical switches broke a long time ago and had to be replaced. But I guess you are right. I was able to pull out the broken gear today and it's all bad news. Its combined wheel for belt and gear, no way finding this thing online and making some kind of diy option would most likely not work good :(

I believe so. Even my rebuild was a big improvement over stock increasing force and resolution of ffb. DD wheel was always my goal and this rebuild was more or less a step to learn things about diy wheels and sim builds. Things like Fanatec, Simcube, Moza are cool but waaaayyyy over my budget, that is why I look for a diy option. And I like to build things too :) Bare small mige is like 300$, still kinda high. Alternate options would be stepper Nema34 seem reasonable, since I am like 50/50 casual hardcore racer. Opinions on stepper DD seem very mixed tho.

I tried to fix my gear by a different method, mainly due to the fact this wheel is kinda small and only one tooth is missing. Was successful with strong epoxy glue to mold teeth. It held okay at first but the new tooth broke in half like 30 seconds later under light load. So this gear is 100% gone.
Very upset now. I am really keen to get Mige now, but those prices are killing me, especially for shipping when shipping costs the same as half of price of mige+servo. Ridiculous.

That is indeed an option. Price of used g29 is about 200$ tho. G923 is wheel! But expensive, 350$ here. With that price tag I could I am for MiGe DD :/ With no pedals and stuff but still can use my old pedals, they bare fine so far.
    Hard decision. Thanks for input!
