Greeting to all! I have been a long time sim enthusiast and have been considering adding a 3 or 6 dof system to my repertoire. Since I have plenty of time here in Iraq, I figured I’d do some brainstorming and begin to design a system.

Of course, the major obstacle to a motion system is the cost of actuators… with that in mind, I am curious as to what some of you might think of using low-cost actuators modified with some of these high-quality Chinese-made brushless motors. They are about $100 and make around 8 horsepower (7000W).

They have brushless controllers rated at up to 150 amps for around $100 as well.

They look pretty decent. What you want is low RPM and high torque. Any videos of the motors?

True, in an ideal world they would operate much more slowly... unfortunately, this seems to be about as good as it gets for price/power. Some simple calculations show that a motor such as this, when combined with a simple belt/chain drive, could be capable of exerting tremendous force at actuation speeds approaching 1 meter per second.
