    Welcome.

You will find plenty of helpful information in the FAQs to get you started, in particular check out the SimTools, fundamentals of motion and the design sections: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

You can also search for specific types of projects using the Google Custom Search function on the Recent page: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/find-new/posts?recent=1

If something sounds odd then look it up in the glossary: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/glossary-of-acronyms-and-names.66/

There are lots of options when it comes to Arduino, but I suggest you try SMC3 first, as it has a handy app for doing configuration, it was developed for the Uno R3: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/arduino-code-for-use-with-various-hardware-and-simtools.31/

When you are ready please start your own project thread here, ask any questions you have there and detail your project progress: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/diy-motion-simulator-projects.22/

    Good luck with your project.

I am trying out the smc3 , I am using an arduino Mega 2560. the smc3 exe. application is giving me an error . i am wondering if anyone else has had this issue. of if it could be using th mega instead of the uno r3.

SMC3 is written for the uno r3, so the board could be an issue.

But more detail on the steps you have taken would be helpful context.

    Thanks for the response .
i just wanted to test out the smc3 with one motor to get an idea of how it works .
    i am using :
    Arduino mega 2560
    IBT2 motor controller
    and a 10 k pot

I have followed the wiring diagram that i found in the main thread . Double checked the wiring everything seem good .
I uploaded the ino file the the arduino with no issues .
i opened the ini file for the smc3 app changed the comm port to 3 , which is what my Arduino is registered on .
i tried to open the smc3 app and i get the for mentioned error message .

i figured with all the people using and suggesting this setup , surely someone has ran into this issue. i suppose i will order an uno r3 and give it a try . If this resolved this issue i will create a thread confirming the Mega was the issue .
    Thanks

I am gonna try the same thing as you just waiting on parts to arrive, once I have set it up and tested it I will let you know my findings.

Also what motors are you using I'm using wiper motors from amazon.

I can confirm now that the smc3 application must be connected to an Arduino Uno R3. And will not work with the Mega 2560. Must be something in the programming and the way it calls out the soft serial port.

Im starting off with a seat mover to learn how it works and gonna build u to a 6dof hopefully.

so far all i have managed to do is as per picture which is now pointless as my mega 2560 is useless for the project never mind maybe use it elsewhere .

i take it the UNO R3 worked ?

Yes i uploaded the Arduino file and connected the Uno r3 and it instantly worked . after testing i absolutely love how this program is set up . i have wrote multiply sketches on my own to get motors moving with sim tools and calibrate the pots . which did work and i was able to get motion from the game to my simulator. However is was really rough and un polished . after seeing how the smc3 is set up i love it . the features and functions make everything so much easier to set up and tune . I'm still learning what all the setting do my self , but if you have any question on my set up . please feel free to hit me up . seems like we are walking down the same path . i look forward to seeing your sim and how it progresses .
