    Hi Guys,

I've been doing a fair bit of reading and have convinced myself I need to pursue building a 2DOF Simulator. At this stage I'm planning on following the steps from Master Yoda on converting a Frex style Simulator to X-Sim. how-to-convert-your-frex-scm-to-x-sim-t1412.html .

I haven't purchased any parts yet, but before I do I wanted to clarify my concerns with Win 7 64Bit not being supported by X-sim as all my games etc... will be running on a 64 bit machine.

What i wanted to know is:

    1. Can i run my games (rfactor mostly) on my Win 7 64 Bit machine, and run the X-Sim software on my 2nd Win 7 32 Bit machine ?
    OR
    2. To utilise X-Sim do I need to have both PC's running 32 Bit ? If this is the case I'm probably better off just running on a single PC as I have a fairly high end I7 PC with plenty of power.

Thanks in advance for any advise, I just really wanted to avoid running my games on a 32 bit system after spending good money on my newish Window 7 64 bit system.

    Gina.

    Hi V8gina,

i use all my games (dirt2, rfactor, lfs, etc. )without any problems on my windows 7 64bit system. Also the new beta version of the x-sim software viewtopic.php?f=1&t=2150 works on the same dual core system like a charm. So i suggest to give it a try.

It´s not nessecary to use a second pc, but it is very comfortable to control the actuators when you use a second pc. For example, you are driving and a friend is is able to control the actuators during gameplay at the same time without interupting the game. That´s a good way to find your personal best fitting settings.

Btw. Gina sounds like a female name! When that´s true, you are the first woman here. At least the only one i know ;)

    regards
    René

I am having issues with the Force Sender running on Win7 32bit. The problem is that it doesn't get the values from the games. When I try the Test Plugin, everything works, the Profiler running on my laptop picks up these sliders no problem, but when I change the plugin for GTR2, all values are 0.

    Any suggestions?

Make sure you enable Memory sharing in your .plr file. Look for:

Write Shared Memory=1 // Write game data to shared memory area

It is enabled, that's why I cannot find out why it wouldn't work. :(

As far as I am aware SimTools v2 will not run on XP, but should on later Windows machines, easy enough to install and check to be sure.

    Hello Noorbeast.
    Many thanks for your reply.
I could not find any compatibility information in the user manual, or from searching.
Simtools 2.6 runs in demo on my win 7 pro, although I have no drop-down available to select the DOF REALITY usb connection. I can select the com port.
I will purchase a licence next to unlock and go from there.
    Have a good weekend.
