Ok so I bought an STLV2 programmer - all good.

How have people connected their encoders to the ST board?
I don't seem to be getting any life from my encoder, in the settings menu of the EMC software I'm getting nothing from the index and encoder position.

I have an Omron E6B2-CWZ6C running at 3.3v and 1K resistors. The Omron voltage range says 5-24v, could this also be causing an issue?

OK, so a bit of an update.

I have everything wired up and the software installed.

When I click re-centre in the program is the motor supposed to move back to the centre? All it seems to be doing is resetting the 0 degrees in the program.

Going into the settings, when I try to calibrate the wheel with z index option ticked is the wheel supposed to do it's own thing like spin right then left then centre because nothing is happening. Even switching z index off is the same.

I have everything wired up as per the diagram from EbolzMagy, using PWM mode only works on the LEFT end stop, going to the right I see the STM32 light up when it gets to the end stop but there's no resistance. I can only get it to work in 2PWM mode.

End stops seem to be working but instead of holding in position is turns the wheel the opposite was half a turn or so, is that supposed to happen?

Sorry for the inane questions, I've searched for a manual for the software but can't find anything so I'm having to resort to asking you fine people!

Ok thank you, I'll test it on a game later.

Simply bumps back. That ok. Advise not to put it low. And does not mean it should hold the wheel there.

Instead of bumping it turns a quarter turn in the opposite direction to the end stop. Is there anyway that I can just make it bump?

I've been at this for over a week and it's still giving me grief.

I'm constantly getting drift to the left, sometimes it moves slowly sometimes it hits the end stop instantly.
I've swapped over A/B channels, still drift to the left.
Disabling Z index has no effect.

Moving the encoder slowly results in jerky movement over a few degrees or the software thinks the wheel is moving left.

I'm powering my encoder with a separate 3,3v power supply, which also feeds the 3.3 volts to the encoder inputs using 1k ohm resistors.

    I'm using EMC software V1.0.5

    Can anyone help?

Where from did you get that info on such a low voltage to the encoder? It's not supposed to work on it at all. Operating voltage is 5-24 volts. No resistors on the power line.

It's in the EMC wiring diagram, 3.3v feed, 1k ohm resistor for A,B and Z.

    Isn't the STM32 only 3.3v resistant?

So what you're saying is that I can up the voltage to 5 volts take the resistors off?

what about the voltage to the IBT2? stay at 3.3 or 5v ok?

    Cheers

Don't trust everything. You should know about supply to encoder. It's written even on it. No resistor on power line. Only on the signal channels. Stm vet7 at least, has two pins. ~4.7v and 3v to power whatevers. Logic is only 3.3volts.
With ibt, you can even go without power on it. It can be powered from motor supply only. But depends so don't mess up with it.

I don't use a resistor on the power line, I can adjust the voltage.

So 5v to power the encoder, 1k ohm resistors on the signal line, 3.3v to ibt?

2k ohms are better. 1k can sag the voltage. Ibt choose yourself.

    You're a life-saver mate.

Not having any drifting issues now, will test further...
    Thanks a lot mate.

Anyone using MY1016 can share what gearing ratio you are using?
I bought 14T and 72 T pulleys but I think that might be too much specially for drift

    That's ok. 1:4-1:6 ratio.

Does anyone what the 'tweak FFB' settings does?

    Sine, Square, Triangle etc...

The only thing I seem to be getting a reaction from is if I up the sine slider, can't really feel any difference with any of the other settings. Sine just makes the wheel go from left and right on it's own, making it unusable.

Also, I have the FFB force at 100%, I cannot feel anything through the wheel when I'm playing R-Factor 2, only when I move sine up the slider I start to feel the FFB.

    Am I messing up somewhere?

I'll give it a try. What does the constant slider do?
