Apologies if this is a silly question, but when tuning, what is the difference between increasing the Washout Gain versus decreasing the number in the Tuning Center? Both methods would ultimately increase the response to the DOF, right? Is one method usually preferred over the other?

The lower the Tuning Center value the sharper the response, but over less of an axis range, conversely the larger the value the slower the response, but over a larger axis range.

(Washout) Gain – This is how much the axis will react to changes in the input from the game: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/washout-gain-and-return.303/

Best to get the Tuning Center correct first, (Washout) Gain may be added for say roll or pitch for a flight sim, if necessary, as a refinement, say in situations where you want washout tuned to return a rig to neutral, just below perception threshold.
