    Nice that you like our work!
    Silent-chills actuators are a masterpiece of engineering and a he did a lot of good documention.
    I also like the actuators from peacemaker in combination with Thanos electronic. Setting up a 6DOF with a Thanos board seems to be less demanding - something that you should think about.

    I'm in London and this is my first foray into 4DOF after trying the Nordschleife in PC3 in the Porsche 919 I was hooked.
    The build is 2/3rds of the way through after starting in January so I hope to be racing by mid-Feb!.

    Hey forum,

    Joel here from artis race labs , Lakeville, CT US. We've built several rigs [ricmotech, sim-lab] We're just finishing up a new build of a PT-actuator 4 actuator + double TL + surge. So far so good. Going to give simtools a try for iracing. I'm sure I'll be having some questions for the forum.

    Please bear with me, I'll try to make this short as possible :)

    I am a pilot and huge racing fan. About 6 years ago I became disabled after a heart surgery and had 3 strokes. I can still get around fine, I just move a little slower, but I am largely recovered. I always had a good job and my wife, myself, and our English Bulldog Dodo live in a nice condo by the beach in Connecticut that we were fully able to pay off. Since my activites are somewhat limited (no more cycling, jet skiing, snowboarding, etc) I had gotten into VR to help with exercise (BoxVR is fantastic!). When I saw the DOFreality I drooled, I've always wanted a motion sim. So I bought one in December with my wife's blessing. Unfortunately it has not lived up to my expectations, but I think the problem is Sim Racing Studio, not the motion sim. I have a Valve Index, the motion tracking is setup and works fantastically (I think- my head still moves around in iRacing so I have to play with it more). However, I noticed the surge backward motion is incorrect. It pushes you forward, when it should surge backward. there is no way to make it pull you backward under braking. I said "It should surge backward while pitching down". I was told it can't even combine two motions. It the testing part of the software it can... so... What is the problem? I basically just found this out, and my stomach sank. So I'm kind of in a bummed out mood if you can't tell. I spent a LOT of money on this and I'd just like to have it work correctly. Can Sim Tools do this? I'm happy to buy a license, I just don't understand what I need. I have read through everything and I still don't know. I click on "Buy a license" and it takes me to a DIY free license, can't use with a purchased product, you need to buy a license, you need free plug-ins, or buy a subscription, or pay with coins... I have no idea how any of this works.

    Anyway, my bulldog just stole my glove and is sneaking off to chew it up somewhere. I hope to learn more. particulary, I'd love to learn the math required and how to drive the motion sim with custom software (plug-ins I guess).

    My name is Stefan

    I am from Denmark and have always been fascinated, by racing games, and after the first time i saw a moving simulator my future path was made.
    well that was many years ago, but it is never too late.
    i am thinking of a 4DOF system with something like 24 volt engines and an Arduino to control them.
    i hope i can get some inspiration here, and maybe give something back if i should be so lucky to reach that level.

    I have my brother in the project as well to boost the Arduino part.

    i have a simpel developer pc and will do some trials with small arduino engines to act with the game Live For Speed.
    As i understand that is the most simpel game to run on a small pc as my developer pc.

    Hi all. Obligatory first post :)

    I've had a T500-RS setup mounted to a RaceRoom frame for a few years, on a homebuilt wooden base with casters so it could be moved around easily. Originally built it to sit in front of my projection screen, but eventually added a 50" TV, mounted a low profile subwoofer directly to the back of the seat, added surround speakers and finally, undercarriage lights.

    I've used it both in "pancake" and in VR and have been pretty happy with the frame and the modifications I have made to it, but now I have the bug to make it move. The base is pretty sturdy, but I'm not sure it will hold up to bouncing around for very long, so extrusions will likely be in my future, as much as I hate to start over.

    After doing tons of research, I decide that designing and building my own actuators for a 4 actuator system was within my skillset. I program microcontrollers, design and build circuit boards, am capable with solid modeling, own plenty of tools, including a 4x8 CNC router with a 5hp spindle, FDM and resin 3D printers, etc... I'm also a pretty good "seat of the pants" engineer, have completely rebuilt a Grizzly 660 4-wheeler which was ready for the scrap heap and have been making chicken salad out of chicken $#!^ most of my life, so coming up with my own take on DIY actuators seemed like it would be a fun diversion. It also appealed to my obsessively frugal nature and limited budget.

    I looked at commercial actuator schematics, the SFX-XXX designs, as well as some others on the YT, to get a feel for how they work, but the thought of running a 3D printer 24/7 for two weeks straight, in order to make the necessary parts, makes my brain turn inside out. I may be delusional, but my gut tells me I can come up with a good alternative to doing that. But I've been wrong before :) So far, my design is based on a 70mm tube, should have over 150mm of travel, is "push-pull" and a complete 4 actuator setup, with motors, drivers and controller, should come in at less than 2K worth of mostly off-the-shelf parts. But the proof will be in the pudding, as they say.

    Anyway, to make a short story longer, most of my parts have arrived and the journey has begun. With any luck, this won't be my only post here.

    I stumble across your forum from searching for the fx2 simulator. It seems someone asked about drivers for this machine.

    We have a working one at the muesum of pinball in banning California. It had a low pressure issue. We replaced the pump. This is more of a ride but i hope someday to add user interaction to this motion platform game.
