Hello, I'm an architectural designer with a background in photography. I played a lot of simulator games when I was young and have become inspired to build a simulator for my 2 year old son and myself. I figure I have a few years to work on the project before he can fully appreciate it and not just smash at buttons. I have joined this forum from following threads about motion G-seat projects and am keen to build the simpit around one of these. I want the simpit to satisfy a large list of criteria, but specifically be for my son and I. It will also serve as a place to play arcade games and even be a place for me to escape the house and work in comfort. I imagine it will be set up in an external cubbyhouse structure, which essentially will be a granny-flat by the time I've finished. Am happy to share my progress. I imagine most of my work for the first couple of years will be digitally designing in 3D. A few related projects before I can really get going with my build will be a DIY
CNC-Router, a DIY 3D-printer amongst other tools and jigs in setting up my workshop. I have started building a G-chair, but due to my families current living environment have a very small footprint to work in so I will keep working on parts and developing the design. Have Fun.

    Welcome @John Cullen.

Here is a cubby-house sim, just for a bit of inspiration: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/2dof-cubby-house-flight-simulator.5992/

Sounds like you have a great set of skills for the design side.

You will find plenty of helpful information in the FAQs, in particular check out the SimTools, fundamentals of motion, the design and sections, there is also a section for controllers: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

    Hey There,

I am here to learn a little more about flight simulation and rollercoaster like rides. I will be building a 3 or 6 dof motion film and would like any help possible. Thank you!!

    Hi All,
Just finishing up my prototype for my DIY DD SIM steering wheel based on the Arduino EMC project and starting to get addicted lol.

Next step is a 2 axis seat mover. Will post about my wheel later today. Need to get into the details of the motion control system next!

I'm an aerospace engineer by "trade" so mechatronics are a nice parallel hobby. Based in the North West of the UK. Also have a small YouTube channel if you're interested in my previous projects.

Anyway looking forward to chatting as things progress. :)

    All the best

Hello. I have been viewing the forums for a few months while researching my own project. I used to race Grand Prix Legends back in 1999 and recently rediscovered sim racing by chance on You Tube. After lots of reading I am building my own rig. I have already made the pedals (linear pot accelerator, load cell brake and clutch with a real clutch plate), have bought a small Mige, Simucube and Ioni Pro, received the Kinetik aluminium profile for my actuators, have a Creality 3D Pro on order, lots of lengths of steel for the welded spaceframe "chassis" and a bucket seat.

I will have an SFX based actuator on each corner and am thinking if adding TL and surge is worth the extra effort.

My back ground is engineering and building my own cars. I have built a few space framed vehicles, designed and tuned my own double wishbone suspension, rebuilt engines, have a lathe, drill press and TIG welder. 3D printing is new to me and I have a fair bit of learning to do with motion controllers etc but it all seems reasonably straight forward.

    Hello everyone,
I found this forum when I search for diy racing wheel, and days later when I search for 2 DOF simulator, the results are also from this forum. That must be something, so I have no reason to not registered an account here. :), I am in the process of building my own wheel and simulator, a lot to learn on the way.

    Hello all simulator fans.
    I'm Ketil from Norway.

Stumbled upon this website after a youtube video. I was searching for the lack of oversteer feeling in iRacing. After testing the irffb and the seat of pants feeling, I thought 'why not make real seat of pants feeling'

so here I am, btw my english is also prone to stumble from time to time - so 'bear' :) with me hehe

My first project now is to get a working oversteer feeling in my 'Next Level Racing Gttrack Simulator Cockpit'.

I've been looking at the 'Next Level Racing Traction Plus Motion Platform'.
But the price is too high in my honest opinion.

I'm able to solder, weld and program as long "google search" tells me how, so I will try to collect tips and ideas to begin with.

    Hello everyone ,

I'm From France, i'm a sim racing enthausiast and a real motorsport fan , i started to do my first sim with wood dreaming to go on the Nürburgring Norschleife one day for real... After more than 1000hours of training on RF,RF2 Assetto Granturismo, i went on it and i succed to do less than 10 min with a nurburgring rental swift sport on the first time know i can reach Less than 8 min with my car ! Sim racing is a wonderful thing !

Now, i have the chance to do racing sometimes in amateur competitions, and i really would like to build a 6DOF sim as realistic as possible ! Unfortunately i don't have any knowledge concerning programming or building a 6DOF Sim, so Firstly i have to be really greatful with @SilentChill and @PeterW if you read that message , even you i didn't talk to you guys you help me a lot about how to build an actuator, the parts programming an odrive with your posts on this forum and also odrive community.

Xsimulator community has a lot of helpful people and you really helped me ! For sure i will come back quickly asking you a lot of questions (concerning parts and programming and a LOT of things) because i'm looking for all parts i must need to build this sim, but again thank you guys and thanks a lot the community for the answers and the help you will give to me !
