What happens is that with a potentiometer or pot as you say of 100k until you reach 100x100 the motor will rotate slowly and slowly, instead with a linear 10k the movement of the motor will be more precise.

ok got it. thanks a lot.

Now i am finished with rewiring and correcting the wires to the pots

    IMG_1558.jpg IMG_1557.jpg

Now when i rotate them green line is same as yellow power line. The yellow line goes down if the pots turns to the middle position and then if up or down the power line goes up. On both sides.

But whats next? I tried to start Engine, but i still can not control the motors over the game engine.

you're going to have to change the pot x 10k

IMG_1559.jpg Dont understand that sorry. Both pots are b10k. I was just wondering if i can use 100k pots.

    But this one are b10k.

sine_wiper_one.jpg Ok, i am a bit closer to a working system.

One wiper motor attached with the POT is now going slowly up, and then down again.
    In SMC3 with Sine motion

But the other one still moves just like a fast rabbit to one side and then to the other side. But it went much more thant the pot can turn with.

    Anyone knows this problem?

You can use 100k pots (any value between 5k and 100k should work), but not 10 turn pots, unless the full movement of the sim (full left roll to full right roll) turns the pot 10 turns (or close to). Basically the pot is used as a voltage divider, providing the controller with a voltage relative to position. ie: turn the pot completely one way is 0v, completely the other way is 5v, half way is 2.5v (give or take a bit). So if you use a 10 turn pot and it only turns one rotation out of the 10 available, the output voltage will only be 10% of the range (ie: 2.25v to 2.75v if you started from the center).

    Hi,

thanks physke for your information. This is good for my understanding. And i got it. Range 100 is bigger then 10. Easily spoken out.

So now for my existing problem.

I ordered 10 new b10k Pots because i thought maybe that one on the left side is defective and replaced it.
No changing in behaviour of the Motor. I am Testing with SMC3 in Sine Mode.

I checked all the cables again and again. But there is nothing wrong with the soldering or the places
i put them into the Arduino or the IBT_2.

I am nearly at a point where i am going to throw all away.

The left motor POT is on Arduino A0 the other on A1.

    Left IBT_2 not working
    RPWM - Arduino 2
    LPWM - Arduino 9
    REN - Arduino 3
    LEN - Arduino 3
    RIS - empty
    LIS - empty
    VCC - Arduino 5V
    GND - Arduino Ground

The Right motor goes straight as it has to be with the Pot. Everything fine so far.

    Right IBT_2
    RPWM - Arduino 4
    LPWM - Arduino 10
    REN - Arduino 5
    LEN - Arduino 5
    RIS - empty
    LIS - empty
    VCC - Arduino 5V
    GND - Arduino Ground

As i write before. The right motor works perfect. The SINE Mode in SMC3 works togheter with the
    POT.

But the left motor does not work. If i start any Mode in SMC3 the motor just runs in one direction
    until it hit clip.

Now i am going to change the IBT_2. I am glad i had one spare in a closed package.

Maybe in the meantime someone reads this and can give me a hint or had that same problem like
    mine.

    Thanks a lot mates.

You don't have an idea of all those who went through these problems ... and then you will realize that it was all bullshit ... you would have to go through trial and error ..... I reversed the motors and the IBT-2 go discarding errors .... in the arduino you can change the analog outputs it can be the arduino also do not make sure with anything you have to go discarding.

i got it.....man i am sooooo stupid.....you were right ian....

The direction of the left pot was wrong. I was such a blind idiot...damn.

When i now move in SMC3 with Manual the blue dot up and down, both sides with motor 1 and motor 2 i can control.

Is this at this point right?

Next step connecting game engine will still not work. I am connected with SMC3 Port 10.

These settings are made in Game Engine

    ge_settings.jpg

in Axis Assignments i have made this

    ge_assignment.jpg

    Only DOF 1 DOF 2 and DOF3.

When i now try to test it i go to output testing i can hear a ding dong sound but thats all. If i use the buttons to push axis 1 or axis 2 nothing happens.

    ge_testing.jpg

Does anyone sees what i possibly made wrong?

BTW Thanks again to this Forum and his members. You are great. I am driving IRacing for about 6 month now and i am hoping that my 2dof will bring me to better round labs because of the better feeling of the car.

    Thanks to you all again.

we are for that friend .... try to copy the photo that I send you with the movements that you put ... you have to copy those same settings in axisb and axisa as well as in the two photos that I sent you to have put the minimum that You want to feel the ride of the car and you have left to mark in Dir the direction of each force when you brake it lowers from the front when you accelerate it rises from the front and when you turn to the right the seat leans to the left and when you turn to the left it leans to the right is understood. Take note that when you give Dir on axis a, on axis b they are reversed ... then tell me. 20201028_194814.jpg 20201028_194802.jpg
When I configure everything, let me know and I'll show you how to put the filters, check axis assignmaents to configure everything in axis type, I chose Generic 2D advanced, there we can configure the filters.

    Hi Ian,

    thanks again.

I did everything except of FLT. Did not know what to put in there.

But nothing. If i try to test output nothing happens when i slide the axis button left / right.

    ge_axisa.jpg
    ge_axisb.jpg
    ge_settings_new.jpg

It seems that the Game Engine is not connected to SMC3.

But in SMC3 all is working fine.

    I am clueless again

    YEEEEHHHAAAAAWWWWW it works....!!!!!

Axis 1a left motor Axis 2a right motor.

    BUT ! Sorry. Neverending Story....

Left Motor slide left down slide right up
Right Motor slide left up slide right down

Can i simply change + and - from the motorpower ?

don´t change + and - on a motor. the motor will start spinning.
you can change + and - on the pots or change the direction in simtools with this little boxes:

Hello, I was at work ..... the SMC3 is to calibrate the motors well in terms of power and to couple the motors with the potentiometer. Once they are connected and everything works perfectly, there is if you can go to SIMTOOLS once you are in simtools you have to open the manager and the engine ... the manager on the game pc and the engine on the simulator ... ... first you have to connect the 2 programs with the ip and then patch any game you play once, if it should be all right ........ in terms of voice movements you have pitch and Roll pitch goes from forward like this back and roll from left to right when you mark in Dir in roll when you brake you have to come down on end and when you accelerate you have to lift up on end and in roll when you turn to the right you have to lean to the left of and when you turn to the wing Left has to lean to the right.

    Hi,

@Skuldi - I did flag this point but nothing changed.

@ IAN - Noorbeat give me that hint. Thanks a lot to all - especialy to noorbeast an you.

This point is missing in the 3DOF Tutorial. Maybe it is worth to place this information
inside this tutorial. Maybe (hopefully) i am not the only one who is going mad about this.

I read the tutorial about basic informations of movement. I think i get it, but i am not sure :)

I will try to change + and - of the POT. But before i do that, can i just change the + and - of one pot?
I think yes but maybe it is better to ask before i do that.

    Will wait for info.

You cannot (maybe yes - you been here before) imagine how happy i am right now. I have ordered
a Seat for 100 €. Right now i am mounting the plate for the seat. With the seat i can check the best
position for it on the top of my 2 dof.

    :)

Hello friend, I am just seeing your message that you say more and less about the potentiometer, you have to change it in the SMC3 when the potentiometers are not coupled with the motors .... I told you to change the Dir button in the gameengine once that you have everything connected the dir button you like the direction that the simulator has to have when you accelerate, brake or turn on both sides.

You would have to go up a video to YouTube to see the movements well
