    Hi,

i have started my 2dof project.

    Here are my starting parts:

    1 x Arduino R3 Uno
    2 x IBT - 2
    1 x 12v 29 A Output Power Supply
    IMG_7818.jpg

I welded the chair holder and assembled the universal joint on the front.

    IMG_7787.jpg

I was lucky to get 2 of the universal joints for 25 Euro incl. shiping.

I have 2 wippermotors from ebay for together 40 Euro. Grounded them
already and put a construction on them to connect the potentiometers.

    wipper_poti1.jpg

I am now looking for a 3d construction that can be printed to hold the potentiometers
at the wipper motors. But for now this must be enough :)

My next step is to solder the IBT-2´s and the Arduino together with the potentiometers
to see if it is working.

    See you all later

    Hi all,

    i am back.

Take a while to make progress on my 2dof project.

In the meanwhile i build an MPCNC because i bought me one 3d printer and then i don´t know what to do with it.

But now it seems to be very helpfull for my 2dof project.

I made 3 parts for the POTs. See pictures.

    IMG_1546.jpg

    Everything seems to run smooth.

But i have one Problem. If i attach the pots and try SMC3 runing Motion or Sine. It stops after a few
milimeters. Clip is instantly reached by the pots.

I do not understand why this happen. Can someone give me a hint please?

And then my second problem is SMC3 and SIMTools.

I have read everthing i could find but maybe i am too blind to see.

These are my settings in SIMTools

    SIMTools.jpg

A connection will not establish. Is this because of it is a DEMO Version of SimTools?

Thank you for your help mates.

Assuming the port is correct the SimTools Interface Settings looks OK, but the SMC3 side must be fully sorted and working before progressing to SimTools.

Can you please post pictures of your SMC3 settings.

I am presuming 10k pots is that correct?

Out of curiosity when you had directly connected the pots, instead of gearing them, was there a problem?

    Hi,

Yes they are 10k pots. I have done everything like in this post

    https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...3dof-motor-driver-and-windows-utilities.4957/

    Mode 2.

No there were no problems i gues. I had everything off. Then i connected Arduino to my PC.

After i set everything to 0 i tried the steps in the How To Post.

When i wheel up the pots with my hand, the motor runs in that direction i turn the potis.

I have a video of it

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/uipvj7r83ds35az/IMG_1548.MOV?dl=1

you can see how they work.

    Thanks again a lot

That pot has a very limited range, it looks like about 20 degrees, certainly not 360 degrees and gearing it makes that even worse and totally unusable.

Did they work OK when directly connected when you had them mounted them like this:

I think yes, but it is too long ago. But i understand what you mean.

Give me 2 hours for a new mounting concept and printing.

Ah, and one Info for you. The Pots have 270 degrees.

I am now printing a new big gear so the ratio is 1 to 1 with that one on the wiper motor.

I think that should work. Also i have to print a wider mounting plate for it.

If i finish this, i will place the stl files also in here so someone who wants to build this, can have
    a clean POT mounting system.

    Still printing.....

So i am ready with one part. But it still does not work.

Here are pictures of the gear.

    IMG_1553.jpg IMG_1554.jpg IMG_1554.jpg

But i see if i run the motors in SMC3 in Sine, the blue line goes like a sine but the green line goes up
and the motor is not runing simultanous with the sine signal from SMC3.

    smc3_new.jpg

Can you give me a hint? Does the motor dont has to change speed and direction acording to the Sine?

Thanks a lot, i hope i am not bothering you.

    Regards
    Rock

    Hi,

    Mode 2 is set.

I figured out that in Sine the wiper motors turn 1,75 in one direction and back just 1,5 turns.

Maybe my uno is defective? I tryed another china clone. But this one mentioned the pots in SMC3 but did
    not start the motors...

I am listening to Queen the past 5 hours....."I´m going slightly mad..."

the mode changes it in the arduino program and there are you specify that you can have 20201026_204749.jpg

    Hi Ian,

    thanks for your participation.

I already made that at the beginning of my project as i have programmed my arduino board.

    mode.jpg

I am now rewiring a complete new one. Maybe something is wrong with my soldering.

I realy do not understand what i am doing wrong. I am not that stupid to put 10 cables
    together, but, you never know.

Rest assured that we all passed that stage ..... to make sure that everything is fine, move the 10k linear potentiometer from one side to the other with your hand and one of the motors has to turn the same up and down one Once with each potentiometer you do the same with the other potentiometer and motor ... there you go to the other step of coupling each potentiometer with its motor with the utility of SMC3. When I configure the SMC3 utility, it assigns the port of the arduino and you add power max very slowly without hooking the structure so as not to configure the potentiometers with all the weight of the structure, the power max increases and automatically the blue or green line I do not remember well what color it was to align with the power supply if you do not align the inverted negative and positive of the potentiometer like this. I wait your answer .

    so everything rewired again.

    IMG_1555.jpg IMG_1556.jpg

In SMC3 Motors run if i turn the potis with hand.

But, the green line goes up and the yellow one down. It is exact the opossite way. Is that wrong?

pay attention to invert the poles of the pot and there would have to be coupled
