Hello, I am from Madrid (Spain) and I just joined.

I work in maintenance in a hospital and a few weeks ago I discovered a lot of damaged material that was going to be thrown away (beds, chairs, etc.) and I decided to put it to productive use.

I've always wanted to have a flight simulator, so I decided to buy an Arduino board and start to"play".

At the moment I am testing the programming of movement with the joystick and operation of 2 beds motors (I have not yet built anything of the cockpit).

I found this forum fascinating and the idea of being able to use simtools for game telemetry ........ but I prefer to go step by step, knowing what I am doing.

My idea is to start with a kind of 2 DOF Joyrider and if it suits me ... who knows.

    A pleasure to greet everyone

    Hey guys!

My names Ahmiie! Im from Sydney Australia.

Been into racing along time as my uncle was a pilot/raced cars in his spare time and he was my hero. Unfortunately he passed away some years ago and one of the things he left was his 8020 rig. He spent so much of his spare time playing games with me and always making me push myself to be like him.

So over the years ive upgraded bits and pieces of the rig and now finally im at the stage of motion. the DIY route always caught my eye and i knew when the time came, its what i wanted. Ive gathered alot of the kit and waiting on my final parts to arrive beginning of next week.

    SO EXCITED !!

    Hi everyone,
    I'm from France.
my interest are robotics, motorcycle, music and of course racing sim.
I've been here for a while but had nothing special to tell...
Now I've opened a new thread about my 6DOF motion platform:

feel free to ask for more.
It was inspired by a lot of your projects, so I would like to thank you all. you showed me it was possible!

Hello, my name is Carles and I'm from Barcelona, I have been following the projects long time ago, also in discord. Now is the time to start mine. I'm interested in Sim Racing but I still have doubts if a 4DOF + TL + Surge (step by step) or directly 6DOF.
I still have a lot to learn but I also hope to share. Greetings to all members !!

    Hi X-Simulator community,

I'm Chris from Germany. The Idea of a DIY simulator is growing since a while and when I found this forum, reading all the reports gave me the feeling that it will be a realistic project. So I started with planning and ordering the first parts. As a first setup I want to go with:

    Arduino Mega 2560
    Monster Moto Shield
    Power Supply 12V
cardan joint (out of Yamahe 650 motobike)
    Worm Gear Motors (160rpm)

Now I'm waiting for the parts. When everything is available I'd like to start a report thread with photos and more details.

Btw: I'm a console player, I found some information that plugins and workaraounds for the PS4 landscape are rare but available. Is there someone in this community who is "the specialist" for PS4 questions?

And not to forget: to all the doods that realized a diy sim: RESPECT, i adore your effort!!

    BR
    Chris

Hi everyone! I am 18 years old and a french canadian (so sorry for the english errors:(). I have been sim racing for amost 6 months now with a t300rs, t-lcm pedals, a th8a shifter and a Buttkicker gamer 2 all mounted on the Next Level Racing F-GT cockpit, and exclusively on VR (HP Reverb). I play mainly Assetto corsa and Assetto Corsa Competizione but I am open to try new games!

So far I love my experience in sim racing but i have always been fascinated by motion rigs, but it is really too expensive for me so I started looking for ways to make one myself and found this forum. I have read and watched videos about the process and I understood that it is not easy, but I love challenges. I asked my father to help me too because he is a pretty manual person and knows a lot about Arduino, he has a 3D printer he just bought too so that could be helpful!

What a want is sometime not too big because I don't have a lot of room and money is of course limited, so I think I think I will start with 2DOF motion (If i could i would want more but I can upgrade later right?). My plan would be to keep the rig I want right now, and either put actuators on the 4 corners or put the whole thing on a pivot with actuators at the back.

I'm really not into performance or precision, I really just want to have fun playing the games!

From what I have read, this community seems really fantastic and I can't wait to start this projects with you guys!

    Thank you very muchhug:

    Welcome @MissionRman.

Most of us started where you are now, but thankfully the community members here give freely of their time and expertise.

Doing some research before getting in too deep is time well spent, and starting simple with a 2DOF is a great way to get into motion rigs.

You will find plenty of helpful information in the FAQs, in particular check out the SimTools, fundamentals of motion and the design sections, plus the Arduino section for the required code: http://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

In particular have a play with SimCalc, it will help you understand the trade offs in design Vs physics, and what motors will be needed to drive your design at a desired performance level: https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...e-linear-speed-and-forces-of-your-design.270/

    2DOF, 3DOF, DC motor, Arduino
    Hello everyone

My name is Amer and Im from southeast Asia. I come across this forum since 2016 and I already bought moto monster shield at that time planning to build my own rig. But due to other commitment I did not have a chance to start building it until recently I got my oculus quest and it force me to start again my plan building my own rig.

I really dont have any background in electronic and mechanical things but I love to DIY things. Recently I just arduino Uno, 12V toy motor and I will use MotoMonster that I bough on 2016 for me to start and learn how this things work.

My goal is to have 3Dof rig with Heave but it seems that need powerful motor to build it. But for now, I will start with 2dof as it looks easier to build and will upgrade to 3dof later.

    Thank you

    Hello all,
I'm in Florida (US), been looking at building a rig for racing/flight sim games and stumbled upon this site a few weeks ago and have been reading over many of the other fantastic builds here.
I was inspired by SilentChills older wooden rig sooo I might go a bit ambitious and try to do something similar...although the motion rig is a bit down the list of current projects after making some rudder pedals and a seat frame that can (hopefully) be mounted to the motion rig later.
