    Planning on adding motion to my static sim mainly for heli flying. Also want to build new pedals, cyclic and collective controllers to replace the existing logitech pedals and HOTAS.

    Received more parts and started the assembly. Couldn't easily find a universal joint, so am trying something different with a steel plate sitting on a heavy duty conveyor ball bearing.

    I guess your building a balanced 2DOF? So you need something that will not twist - like a universal joint - which unfortunately is not as common in cars as it use to be. All the best for your build.

    Correct. Got me thinking - maybe I could add another motor for yaw since it can twist already.

    That is possible and warranted if yaw is genuinely useful, which it would be for helis.

    Alternatively you could use panhard rods running diagonally from the top to bottom frame to prevent twist, it does add to cost and build complexity, which is why a universal joint is recommended.

    Hall sensors arrived yesterday so finished putting the platform all together with a couple of liner actuators and a few other bits and pieces. Installed SMC-Utils, Simtools demo and LFS, and successfully set it all up and got it working in LFS. Next step is integration with DCS and XPlane.
