    Hello
I am trying to figure out a decent motion setup for my PT 150mm tripod (2 rear, 1 front) motion rig.
Most of the settings I have seen in the Aerofly threads have washout return/gain settings that are simply scary in MSFS2020. I've seen washout of 60 and gain of 75 recommended in there, and not sure if that's just game specific?

I can't put gain much above 6 without it being way too fast and very violent even with max smoothing.
Washout return is also a strange beast and after many hours, I am still unable to get this feeling right.
    Close, but still wrong.
Either the washout return does not move enough to be worth using, or moves too much, which causes my rig to be lopsided when the aircraft in game is perfectly level if that makes sense?
For example, let's say I am rolling hard left.
Because the return has began to return the rig to level, the normal input on the aircraft in the game to level out (rolling right) ends up overshooting the motion, leaving the rig tilted to the right when the in game aircraft is level.
Sounds like an easy fix, right? Just lower the return, or reduce the gain. But after 5 hours in the Cessna Citation, I am yet to find a balance.
At this stage I am ONLY trying to figure out the Roll DOF, everything else is off so I can get one correct at a time.
Using 90%, 45 Smoothing, 18 Washout, 1.4 Gain (yeah between 1 and 2, that low).

Is the reason this is the 1st post maybe because SimTools is not the best option for flying motion?
    Is FlyPT the better option?

Maybe if you posted several pictures of your rig and mentioned what controller you are using you might get a better response. Also your post is only a few hours old so it takes a while for people to respond.
The more details you supply the more likely you will get some good suggestions.:)

FlyPT will give you finer control, at the cost of some further setup complexity. No harm in trying both and seeing what suits you.

With respect to your issues it would help if you post pictures of all of your settings.

It pays to grab a copy of the SimTools manual and keep it handy for reference: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/rtfm-start-with-the-official-simtools-documentation.117/

    Thanks for the replies.
I thought I had posted my build details in my profile, which is why I kept my post details to the basics - my bad, it's been updated.
I read the manual on these functions, and also 'Spit41' succinct explanation.
In the end after a lot of time trying to get this feeling balanced, it was easier to just turn off the Washout filter as the rig was able to quickly move in line with aircraft on screen, without overshooting center on leveling the aircraft. With the longer stroke actuators it does lean quite far when rolling so I get a nice feeling of my body leaning in the direction of the roll, and returns perfectly to center without the overshoot experienced with trying to use the washout filters.
So for now, it's fine, although I will likely try FlyPT this week as I wait for the upcoming option from SRS, which looks like a great option with far less complexity in getting up and running with motion.

I see that FlyPT can be installed and pulls settings from Simtools?
So I'm guessing this would mean that it would only do this for games that are unsupported by FlyPT, otherwise it would be FlyPT doing the setup config.

It means you can use Simtools as source for the game motion cues (raw) and do all filtering and axis in FlyPT...
