I am building my first project. I choose to start simple and for a quit low budget. < 500-750 euro.

The list of what I use:
    2x 24v DC motor (2x100 euro)
    Arduino Uno R3 (5 euro)
Sabertooth dual 2x32A as motor driver (120 euro)
    1x 24 power supply 480 W(21 euro)
    2x potmeter 10kohm ((2x2)
And some small stuff and aluminium profiles (350 euro)

I use the RufusDufus SMC 3 sketch (thanks!) from this forum.

For racing wheel I use now the T300 thrustmaster.

I have completed my basic test build. I will add some photos. I need to make some improvements on the cables and do some painting etc:)

Looking great! Do you have a BOM/cost on your frame? It looks simple but strong.

your laser parts look very sturdy, very good !!
the motors as well! do you have any backlash?

Make sure that your upper plateform is balanced when you are in the seat!

Thank you! Yes I understand the balacing is important to reduce the force on the motors. I made this construction between the under and upper part. I can slide the coupling to the most perfect balancing point. I can also slide the seat on the top frame when I want to change distance between seat and pedals.

The steering distance can be changed by sliding the top profile where the steering wheel is mounted to.

These motors are quite cheap chinese motors, the have a little bit backlash on the gear box internally. I modified the keys in the drive shafts to get a thight fit in the gear box. For this application I think they will do the job.

    your coupling looks excellent!
you made a simple hole in the second plate to insert the ends of the U-joint?

Yes first plate has a tight fit hole in diameter of the u joint. Second plate locks the Ujoint in the right position.
