Yes, I know VR - but seriously this is going to really put the cat among the pigpens for so many other reasons.

There are some great refinements with MSFS 2020, but as many fans have made clear VR is really important to them as part of the experience. Thus far, other than the published statement, there is nothing yet to suggest VR is even on the testing roadmap :(

Yes, true early days and I am certainly no expert on aircraft systems, so lets see how this all pans out.

Yes, I have moved my pre-order across to steam for many reasons.
I don't know how they will technically limit it to the HP G2, maybe some type of hardware check/verification?

Initially I would suspect a hardware check, though historically people have found ways around those pretty quickly, and it is SteamVR after all, so I can't imagine Valve doing it at that level, though Valve has assisted in the development of the Reverb G2.

For the benefit of others who have not read the release "VR support isn't exclusive to the headset [G2] it will make its first appearance there before rolling out to other headsets".

Anyone on the Alpha or the Beta who was successful to run FS 2020 with motion and SimTool? It seems like with SimConnect it's possible to get it to work with SimFeedback. Anyone?

I have my G2 on order now and after 2 years of my DOF Reality being just a heavy chair since Aerofly FS2 pulled the plug on their SDK, I'm really hoping to be back flying and moving in VR in an awesome real ortho scenery fluid non jittery flight sim. Might need to splash another load of cash though for the 3080ti to run this G2 in MSFS.

I'm hoping the fact that quite a few people will be flying WMR in MSFS means that there will be extra impetus to get motion cancellation solved for WMR. Come on Microsoft - do it for us !

For anyone else in MSFS alpha/beta I just created a thread in the forum under peripherals raising the issue of motion cancellation for WMR.

While they sort out VR support, I am happy to use Open Track and a DIY IR tracker - 6DOF head tracking made all the difference to me.

I have also raised a question via Zendesk of the possibility of telemetry support for motion sims. Lets see what happens.

If they will be allowing add-on software then telemetry availability is a no brainer.

Remember they originally were not going to implement VR until the community made a fuss.

IMO VR support was inevitable as it would be a stupid business decision not to. VR is huge now compared to motion simulator use and there's just too many people hooked on VR that won't spend their hard earned money on anything that doesn't support it.

If you mean somehow to have motion simulator specific telemetry that would of course be awesome. But again I think a stupid decision if they don't have basic telemetry available for aftermarket purposes. That's why FSX has SimConnect.

From the The Verge link I posted above...

“Neumann is quick to point out that Asobo wasn’t starting from scratch. “I sent them the Flight Simulator X engine,” he laughs. “And the great thing was, they integrated the sim that we had one piece at a time. And pretty much from day one it worked. You know, sometimes you work on a product and for the first two years, nothing works. In this case, we could fly from literally day one and just bring up the different systems, which I think was key.””

So there’s a good chance it will have everything necessary for motion telemetry. It sounds like there is a lot of old in with the new and it might be much more familiar than we thought. Maybe...
