    6DOF
    Hello,

To make a long history short, back in December 2017, I started building a 6DOF following several user's ideas.
To spread my expenses and learn the build process, I sourced parts for only 2 linear actuators and built them.

Then... life got in the way and the project never saw an end...

Fast forward to COVID-19 lockdown and I'm back on simracing. Cannot finish the 6DOF now (time and money), but am willing to take a faster and easier route to use the 2 actuators for a 2DOF seat mover.

But, imagine the situation, it's a canon to kill an ant: 2 heavy duty 500mm travel linear actuators to move a chair. :)

Problem is, unless I raise my seat (and platform) considerably, I cannot fit the linear actuator on a standard 2DOF setup:

(even at a 45 degrees, I believe the actuator is too big).

Any ideas on how to accomplish this???

    Thanks in advance!

What about a 45 degree angle, high mount and use axis limiting or the range of actuator that you could actually use.

This is what I believe would be the only option... But the high mount would mean higher than headrest. Do you believe it would be ok?
Limiting the axis will be mandatory in any scenario.

It would have lots of leverage, and look a little strange, but I can't see why it would not work.

Of course the other option is to break down the actuators and make them shorter, to fit the desired use.

You could also mount the actuators horizontally under/either side of the seat and have them drive a level/arm - way more compact. Similar to the 'Next Level' seat driver system.

Eg. But the actuators and drive arms may be longer.

Awesome. Thanks much Seattime. I’ll try to put something together like this. It’s a challenge to source parts these days.

Yes, I am receiving some parts that I have ordered and not others - a bit frustrating, but expected.

Is this type of assembly more reliable / simple than a system with 12V motor

    Parts are finally showing up.

I was about to pull the trigger on the "Next level style" when I remembered of another option.
@SeatTime, any cons mouting the motor like your earlier build:

I can easily modify my actuator to move the motor like this, reducing overall lenght by 160mm, which I believe will be enough.
