Question Smc3 Digital Inputs

    Hello everyone, I'm in the process of upgrading from wiper motors to worm gear motors. The seller i'm buying from had already installed hall effect sensors on the motors, but his chip only outputs a digital signal for the absolute position (no analog).

    My understanding is that the arduino converts the analog voltage from the pots into a digital one for use with SMC3 code. Is it possible to modify the code so that the arduino reads the digital signal from the hall effect sensor rather than from the analog?

    It has an SSI interface for the absolute and the following as well:
    Output Digital angle (interface) / ABI / UVW / PWM

    I read that you need an interface to use ssi with an arduino. But the specs say it also outputs pwm. When an inexpensive low pass filter you can convert it into an analog signal. This usually smooths the signal out somewhat though.

    Ah, so it sounds like it IS possible. I'll research n see what that ssi interface is. For the pmw, I'm guessing that smoothing out the signal is not optimal because of the loss of detail?
