After some work I’ve managed to get the platform ready to mount my rig which is a sim lab GT1 evo. The platform consists of 750w AC servo motors attached to custom actuators, the control is via AMC servo controller from Thanos. The slide rails are 15mm linear bearing blocks with one block in each corner of the rig, rails are 50cm long which allows me around 35cm of travel.
Now comes the test phase, any help or info would be welcome.

Custom actuators? Keen to share some details?

They are made with 1605 ball screw and are 150mm travel. I basically went with the required specs of the sfx100 kit but with 150mm travel.
I went with a flange to take 80mm motors instead of the 90mm. The motor specs are virtually identical between the 2 sizes. These are also designed for push and pull unlike the sfx actuators.

Next I need to do a bit of cable management before I can start testing the platform.

Looks like a neat surge solution, I have the same rig and standard sfx-100s. How much did you need to spend on the extra profile and fittings?

The profile was about £300 with fixings, the rails and guide blocks were about £200.
I’m a bit afraid to total up complete costs

Once everything is finalised I will tidy up the cabling and hide as much as possible and put the motor drivers in a cabinet.

Understand the adding up fear, I stick with ‘just over £1000’ for mine :grin

The slider and push rod are very clever material choices, very referable if I upgrade mine to have surge or sway movement, I think I can control the cost within $150 in my country.;)

BTW JCL Sim Racing sells a kit for the same sort of surge table but they want 2500 € just for the profiles and rails (without any actuators), so you're doing pretty good by comparison.

I've been daydreaming about a similar surge setup for my rig for a couple weeks, after seeing the JCL system in a SimRacingGarage video.

Yes, this should work out much much cheaper.

First test complete, now to install some plugins and test some other sims.
How many coins do i need to be able to download a plugin?

You need 250 to buy a 1 week download package and then each plugin you download costs a further 10. If in a rush I think there is a pay money for access option too.

Thanks, I'll purchase a download package. Is there any limitations to the 1 year package?

Nice project! May I ask what slide rails and guide blocks you are using and where you have bought them?

I used Hiwin heavyduty 15mm rails and rail blocks, there are cheaper alternatives available but i didn't want to risk anything failing. They are quite common and can be found from various suppliers, I got mine from Alibaba.

I’ve had a bit of time with the rig now and am having a blast
Still needs some tweaking to calm down any collisions but I guess it adds to the immersion. F17FBC88-6BC3-45BA-B09B-F26D405D7418.jpeg 6EBE1274-D9D7-40A0-8703-5245F43A5E41.jpeg

This really looks the business. I m really interested in the 150mm travel with the 80 series motors. What size of profile did you use? Do you have any links for the custom parts you used??
    Thanks

    Hallo Bajer
Congratulations first and foremost for your project, really very refined and cured.
I too would like to make actuators similar to the SFX-100 but which have 150mm range instead of 100mm and are push and pull and not just pull
I ask you if you can kindly share what is necessary to make the actuators with 80mm motor (I suppose they are).
I would like to understand what are the different parts to make and buy compared to the sfx-100 project
    Thank you
