Hi everyone, my name is Jonathan (Jono) Wilson. I live in Christchurch, New Zealand ( I have tried to add myself to the Members Map but can't seem to get that to work......)
I'm new to this community and have read some of the relevant - to me - threads, then decided to join, so newbie alert!

I have contacted 1 member regarding this topic but hope that the broader community might be of help also.

I have been looking at building my own rig for a wee while now, but the uncertainty of getting it to all work in concert has made me consider buying a 'turnkey' setup. To that end I have researched - among quite a few others - and come to the decision that the Insecta Tech (https://www.facebook.com/INSECTATECH/) Fireant6 is worth a study.

The company is quite young - as far as I can tell - and (unproven?) but the rigs, although admittedly renderings, + videos of a few delivered/commission systems look very nicely built, and from some of the threads, Jonathan from Insecta Tech is supporting very well.
I am wanting to use this rig for mainly circuit car racing and want a G Force immersive experience which I believe the Stewart platform type of rig offer.

Any constructive opinions/knowledge on this topic would be gladly received, thanks!

Hi, I am in the USA, and I just received a Dragonfly (6DOF). Very nicely designed unit. I'm still assembling it. The system won't allow me to upload a picture yet, but when I can. I have found InsectaTech to be very responsive so far and unit was delivered as agreed.

There are some restrictions on new members, to prevent spammers, but after that I look forward to seeing your rig when assembled :thumbs

After I am allowed I will post details. I had been taking with @RobsonSwiss for almost a year before I decided to purchase. As I work in a industry which requires me to go to relevant professional trade shows like I/ITSEC I have seen a lot on which to base my comparisons. I have also flown many full motion Level D simulators (737, 757, KC-10).

I also have a full scale 1:1 737-NG fixed base simulator in my house. ***Which by the way is for sale if anyone is interested. I'm looking to build another and would need the space and the money. Based in NJ.

Basically the competition for my motion dollars came down to three units (of which I only seriously considered two). 1) The Insectatech Dragonfly, 2) the gforcefactory 6edge, and 3) a unit made in Denmark (I forget the name). I flew the gforcefactory unit at FlightSimExpo 2019 and while nice and well made was not exactly what I was looking for. The Dragonfly offered much large heave throws and displacement angles.

    Hi, thanks for the posts.
As you can see I didn't get much feedback round the time I posted, to be expected as the Insectatech is relatively new to market.
I have ordered a Dragonfly, and am expecting it to ship end of this month.

My objective is for motorsport simulation, so have purchased Heusinkveld Ultimate pedals, my wheel base I'm building OSW 30n, with possibly a Cube Controls Formula CSX2 wheel. The seat is yet to be decided on as I have a Playseat formula seat, but not convinced that it is rigid enough so will look at making my own seat arrangement, possible take a copy of the seat from my race car and use that as the bases for a cockpit. Also have an ASUS ROG Strix XG49V 49" UWQHD Curved Gaming Monitor, which is identical in spec. to the Samsung 49". My sons and I will be building our own PC with a custom case, so fun for the whole family! (they will probably be using the simulator more than me I feel)

At the moment I can't say much more about it till it gets here - then the fun begins in building/setting up. I will endeavour to post pics and comments if anyone is interested. :thumbs

Yes, I did receive the platform. We assembled it, got everything operational and was about to calibrate the actuators (this all during our lockdown here in NZ). After we came out of lockdown I have been non-stop busy with my business and what little spare time has been diverted to my race car as we are moving into the summer, so not too much to report at the moment.

Hi - did you ever get your unit? I ended up customizing my dragonfly (with new plates to mount the throttles / collective / joystick / and mounting a Simionic G1000 in front of a curved screen - so the unit can be used for VR or physical cockpit. I'm waiting on Insectatech to develop a new plug-in for x-plane to extract better motion data, which should be a huge improvement.
