I just had word that Santa has fired up the sleigh and is headed to the international date line, somewhere around Christmas Island, Kiribati, ready for a world wide tour. For those who need it here is the official Norad Santa tracker: http://www.noradsanta.org/

Seriously though I know we have many members from around the world who have a diverse range of views and beliefs. Irrespective of what those may be I would like to pass on end of year seasons greetings to yourselves, and those who you hold near and dear.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has contributed to the Xsimulator.net community. All members have contributed in a vast array of ways and I am constantly amazed by the originality and ingenuity you all bring to your many and varied projects.

Every year Xsimulator.net members push the boundaries when it comes to simulation rigs. In 2019 the big trends have been a move to servo based actuators and the rise of G-Pressure systems, be they in the form of new approaches to traditional G-Seats, harnesses, breast plates and helmet pressure systems, with @SeatTime again having pioneered many of the approaches.

In addition to the evolution of SimTools @pmvcda's pose based FlyPT software burst onto the scene, and has been rapidly advancing via quick iterations of the code. Members have contributed ideas and suggestions, many of which have been quickly incorporated.

This year also ushered in a bunch of new SimTools plugins, including the Linear Hexapod plugin, and the Rotating Hexapod plugin, both based on @pmvcda's work on posed based approaches. Elite Dangerous fans have benefited from @Wagnard's diligent updating of his ED plugin, and he also extended it to vehicles. There are some new plugin devs (@junhyuk Ahn, @ivanovich and @Croccy) to ease the load on @yobuddy, @value1 and other existing plugin dev's overburdened shoulders. Some of the older plugins have been updated to provide Game Vibe and other support, while some updates were made after game updates broke the existing plugins. So a big Aussie Christmas koala stamp award to all the plugin devs, who we all depend on to bring our motion rigs to life in our favorite games.

Member projects during 2019 have been as prolific, diverse, and creative as ever. There have been a plethora of new 6DOF and 4 corner actuator style rigs. Variations of G- Systems (G-Seats, G-Pressure, G-Helmet) seem to be the new experimental frontier. There have been new commercial rigs released using SimTools, such as the DoFreality 6DOF and YawVR, bringing new members to the Xsimulator.net community.

For me the ever increasing activity of this community never gets dull, there is always a new idea and new project. The ingenuity of members is just astounding!

There are many and varied traditions concerning the holiday season. So wherever you are and whatever you may be doing many thanks for being a part of this vibrant community and I wish you all the best for the festive season and new year, I expect it to be one of endless possibilities and amazement.

@noorbeast, thanks a lot for this Chistmas & New Year‘s post! This was a perfect summary and very well suited to reflect the last 12 months of our simulation scene. More than that, it was quite moving to me. I think you could also write New Year‘s speeches for presidents.
You just did not mention the one who relentlessly and most patiently provides tips, tricks, and helpful links and kindly welcomes all new members. Of course the one I am writing of is you. So thanks a lot once again for all your contributions, @noorbeast!

@noorbeast, thank you and the whole team, this site is definitely my greatest discovery in 2019.
I was amazed, impressed and taught a lot. Starting building my first rig became one of the most proud and meaningful things of this year.
Merry Christmas and wish you all the best!
