    Hi

    thanks to @Dirty @Thanos @thefost @hexpod @wannabeaflyer2 @SilentChill @Peacemaker105 @pmvcda @MagicMunkyNuts and many other, here is my final design for a 500mm stroke actuator.

    Motors : 750W (3000 rd/min 2.4Nm) AC servomotors I already have, controled by @Thanos AMC-AASD15 wonderful card.

    Speed : 3000 rd/min * 10mm pitch = 500 mm/s
    Stroke : 500mm (650mm ballscrew)

Here is almost the final design (orange are PETG and white IGUS filament) :

And here are little videos from my prototype actuator, near the actual design :

You dont need to reduce, joure 750watt motor will give 135kgf at rated torque with a 1 on 1 belt ratio

250mm stroke ia good. on ur design so far i am concerned about the pulley that is afixed to screw.

if i recall @SilentChill had cheap spider jaw couplers that sheared. i went for beefier spider jaw couplers in my application. cause the hex bolt that clamps it in a spider jaw coupler exceeds what would fasten in a gt pulley with a set screw..

    thumbs up on igus bearings.

I punched your motor and ball screw data into my Excel sheet and it says 'all good' :thumbs

what would you recommand for flight sim in term of speed ?

and I didn't understand bolt and screw you talked about just before :)

about the screw..find look up couplers, they are dedicated to connect motor drive to screw. just make sure u have heavy duty gt pulleys that wont shear

HI guys given the size of the leadscrew ends i believe the ideal scenario for pulley attachment would be key slot & steel key , but that's extra machining that most diy guy dont have access to :-( the aasd15 motorshaft comes with key fitted but i think their too big for 12mm ballscrew end diameter ..

mind you on my SFX100 and My 6 DOF actuators the couplers fitted with nylon cush drive inserts are secured to the shaft with m4 pinch screws and seem to hold up well ..

i too verified that my 6DOF actuators could be updated to use these servo motors so its win win for these servos if you already have DC motor they can be retrofitted and seem the way to go for new guys ( lot less hassle and encoders built in for great feedback precision.

congratulations on a nice clean design , thats looking very promising :)

    Thanks for your answer @wannabeaflyer2

What do you think of drilling a 5mm hole in pulley and shafts to put a pin ?

Thats doable if you have equipment or access to someone that can do it for you. there is a device for mounting Gears onto pulleys called a taperlock but you would need to source the right sized pulleys to match ( Bigger Bore so may not be practical for the size of gears your looking at :- ) but these will provided good holding and no slip :) , but downside is they add to the price unless you source from our ebay of the orient ( Aliexpress :-0 ) and can handle the 4 week leadtime
Drilling and pinning and retaining the pins will require certain amount of Precision fit, also positioning which is another factor ..

Two M4 / M5 grub screw tapped and fitted to Pulleys either side of the Hardened steel pin/dowel, which is inserted through pulley and shaft, would ensure ease of removal but any slop in pin fit, would not be considered desirable . :roll yeah i know he goes on a bit LOL

Have to say i do like the fold back arrangement for these AC servos and i'll have the same issue ,as it would only require a 5mm mounting plate , i like what you did , so will watch this space

Good idea ! I looked for taperlock and I think I will use that. For the motor shaft I have a key but not for ballscrew. Do you think it will be tight enough to keep up the torque without key ?

    thanks

hi @dureiken im aware of taperlocks as being used on slightly bigger diameter shafts but not looked into there use on 12mm shaft or even if they go down that small , would need to check that out for you , gimme a while and i'l have a lookie see whats what and how easy it is to use .. the tech should be up to handling the forces thats for sure .. Cheers

There are lot of them. Flexdrive 1108 are of for this diameter.

I finally use a 770mm SFU 2010 ball screw and 25*21*750mm aluminium anodized tube.

White parts are in IGUS polymer for sliding, orange are PETG parts.

    Almost all parts are shipped.
