I just had my first ever motion + VR experience and it made me really really ill....
When i just started with VR i would the same symptoms and it took me forever to get over it.
Now VR or motion alone doesn't make me sick but the combination definitely does...
    Is this a common problem?
And i know i just started and my rig's motion isn't properly dialed in yet.
Also i noticed it got way worse when i changed the rift sensor from being stationary to being on the rig itself.
I'm i the only one with these issues?
My plan was to build my motion rig exclusively for VR but now i'm not so sure anymore...
Sorry for being a cry baby but it really sucks :D

Likely your motion is not accurately tracking the simulation data, or incorrect in someway (moving in the wrong directions) to give your inner ear the movements that it is expecting. Synchronised motion reduces motion sickness, poorly synchronised, or incorrect motion will increase motion sickness. I know this from my own and others experience, since the Oculus DK2 days.

I guess i have a sh%tload of fine tuning to do then...
Also found the Motion cancellation thread so its going to get even more complex.. Which i like! :D

Do you have a video of your rig moving and also showing the game video? This would allow members here to possible help you out if you are doing something wrong.

Hi @Joey , had a quick look at your rig in the projects section and have some concerns with the ability of the small motors that you are using - what power rating are they? Unfortunately even if you have geared those motors so that they will move a well balanced rig, once you try moving it in anger during a simulation, this thing called inertia kicks in and is likely stalling you motors. This will cause the motion to lag the simulation data, which is not good for reducing motion sickness. A video as requested above would be great in helping to sort out your issues - but obviously your choice.

    Yup Video is coming asap.
And those motors are surprisingly powerful.
They are from a battery powered angle grinder http://www.wesco-tools.com/Product/details.htm?id=86
No stalling issues that i can see right away.
I've also build in some flex points so the actuators don't have to carry the full inertia of the rig.
That might be the problem but i suspect its just some bad settings and my tendency for motionsickness..
Again i still get car sick so yeah...

I have htc vive and Dof P3 I try to use motion cancellation, I did follow every step in the set up guide, but the vertical axis movements are very aggressive and shake my vision to the point that 3 min into the game I was feeling sick as frak, any recommendations on different settings? my puck is very secure at top of my seat. Please I need Help!

With motion and VR less is more, speed and movement precision is more important than large but slow axis movements: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/virtual-reality-and-motion-simulators.115/

A bass shaker is a very worthy investment. If you are going to quantify immersion, in my opinion vibrations would be a good 20%.

Bought a pimax 5KVR set and could have saved me the money. Setup is a pita, it keeps forgetting settings and it keeps losing the basestation. Large fov so this is cool and main reason I bought this one. Screendoor effect is not bad, but if you want to read settings and text on the dashboard forget it. The 8K is probable better in that respect.

When by accident it worked long enough to play with, I had the same. Motion sickness and already without motion from the rig this was unbearable. Actually I found with the rig on it was slightly better, go figure.

I have 3 screens around me as a cockpit and that works much better for me.

That doesn't surprise me. Motion sickness largely results from a mismatch between what your eyes see and what your inner ear feels. With a properly tuned rig the mismatch is reduced and motion sickness often improves.

In my experience, I only get motion sickness when using VR without motion.

Precisely me, one of the reasons for starting my 2dof project is because I have some VR glasses stored in a drawer because I couldn't play any racing games because of the dizziness that I was getting. I read that it was because your eye sees movement that is not reflected in your ear and your brain goes a little crazy.
I hope I can fix the problem or I will have to sell the virtual reality glasses.

I wonder if the resulting flexibility could be one of the causes of the sea-sickness

Especially in Racing, play with how (fast)the horizon is moving. Sometimes it is fixed or moving too slow... which is fine without motion... but with motion...you see something different then you feel... so this is an important thing in VR to prevent motion sickness with motion.

No doubt this annoying effect is caused by the glasses, I made a simulator for my daughter but without the SimTool software, I handled the movements with Arduino and used Oculus Gear vr for which I developed a 360 application on Android, all set, create the telemetry of several movies and finally synchronize in the order of milliseconds between the arduino and the application, (in case you're wondering, create UDP traffic servers and clients to play and stop everything) and always the dizzy effect with vr feeling
