Hi. I have started to build the motion simulator. Still figuring out the mechanical stuff with my SimLab GT2 rig. It is narrow so finding sweet spots are difficult. I have build now the 'proto' and have notices that the motors are moving when there is no power in them, so it is very hard to get into the pit because the seat moves. I was thinking to balance it with springs or. rubber bands to be able to center it.
I am interested how did you solve that problem with those motors?
I doubt that worm gear can not move without power and Motion Simulator 3 has magnetic brakes.

When a motor moves when unpowered it is called being back driven.

One of the simplest solutions it to use pivoting chocks to hold the rig in place when unpowered. Or just power the rig on before use.

Hi. I energize the engines before getting on the simulator. I also have the engines located very close to the floor which allows me to put some stops so that the CTC do not turn around at -90º when I turn off the simulator. That way I make sure that when I turn on the simulator the motors will turn in the right direction to their neutral position.
