    First project, first question.

    I'm a teacher and we'll be building a 2 DOF simulator seat.

I'm gathering information to start building this project with my students.

First question - For a racing simulator wich solution is the best one? Computer screen or VR goggles.

    Thanks!

I like the immersion of VR over using my screens, however, I do have some friends that prefer to use their monitors, so I guess it's all down to personal preference.

I'm curious about VR goggles (did not tried that yet) however I think it might be funny trying to find the steering wheel when you can't see it...

I've never found that to be a problem personally :)

VR is much better for an immersive feel but I dont cope well with it for long periods my third eye seems to have taken a beating over the years lol i stopped all together

This is really a great idea for an educational project with lots of things to explore and to learn. And as a side effect, you will surely climb up to the top of your student's "teacher ranking list" (if you aren't already there). :thumbs

As mentioned above, the question 'VR or not VR' seems to be personal preference, but for your students it will definitely be much more exciting to use a VR headset. So if you can afford it, I strongly recommend to give it a try. Students susceptible to motion sickness can still use the monitor.

I won't ever run my simulator without VR. Looking around and seeing your cockpit in all directions is just great.

Good luck with your project, and keep us posted.

I think its a question you can put off until closer to the end.
Its very convienent to have at least one monitor in front of you while noodling around with various things to setup and run. Especially in the early stages of tuning.
Even a 27in is getting cheap these days. You probably already have something like that if there is a gaming PC involved.
The decision to try VR can be just a final add on.
