Hi. Most of those Arduino clones have as a serial chip CH340 chip. Officialy the do support many boundrates. I know that they can be very sensitive with not supported boundrates. You can try 460800 in config and it should work.

I dont notice anything wrong running at 115200. Is there a reason I should bump it up to 460800?

Probably not. You can try if you want to since you know the reason now it is easy to test this bound rate 460800 and you will see if there is any difference.

Going to 115200 baud seems to have solved my issues as well!

What if any are the effects of going lower?

I tried that rate on mine and it didnt take that long for it to bug out. Its the only other baud rate that worked. except grounding and putting it to 115

@BlazinH Now it seems I cant get the SMCutil to communicate with the Arduino. I was going to ramp up the power a bit, and I get an error connecting. Simtools and everything else is working fine. Is this due to the new baud rate? Com port is correct. I grounded pin 8 and reset. Do I leave pin 8 grounded? At least I can use the rig now.......just wanted a bit more kp added, and to narrow up my limits for some safety factor.

Sadly it won't work with the new baud rate so you will need to unplug port 8 reset and set things up and then reconnect port 8 . I was going to mention this too and hope for an update that would allow us to use the smc app without going trough these hoops

I forgot to mention that. Unfortunately I don't have the source code for SMC3 Utilities and 500000 baud is its only option. And if I remember correctly its author stated a while back that it is on an old computer that he no longer uses so I don't know if he can even access it anymore.

Old Post but given that my problem is suddenly back I'll throw in a note.

After I built my p1x rig and moved it I've not had any issues and it's been on 500. Now after a long time 7 8 months or so it's suddenly back and nothing has changed. Only thing I've done is move the rig back and forth a bit thinking it could be my usb cable being kinked but I've tested on a laptop and getting the same. It will work on 115 just fine but why? Theres no reasons why they should overload Both ardunio are genuine.

Hello, maybe you could help me again in this wonderful forum.

I have the exact same problem with my rig. What do I have to do to ground pin 8? Is there a wiring plan maybe?

I have no connection to the rig if i only change the baudrate to 115200.
The problem that the motors are crashing after a while is really annoying

If the motors are crashing 'after a while' in SimTools, rather than SMC3, then that may be for other reasons, such as micro usb disconnects or needing to lower the Intensity Level % in Game Manager Profile Editor, to add a form of smoothing and hence reduce current spikes.

Thank you Noorbeast for your answer....i searched all topics with this problem and i tried different things.....i reduced kp in smc3 to 75...pwm max and pwm min to 180 ( also tried out down to 150 )
Fpid in the moment is at 2....i tried out up to 4...
I will make a foto later of my smc3 setup.
In Simtools axis management i reduced to 80.
And intensity i went down to 50.

Sometimes i can ride 15 to 30 min, sometimes only 5 min til one of the motor crashes.
Then I have to plug out the usb cable and start game engine new.

The posts of mike and Blazin H were making me thinking about the baud changing
In Smc3 i have no issues after putting the kp and the fpid down

Hello, i am back after studying the simtools manual again haha....i made some mistakes with the directions ( orange )
After i corrected this i went to finetung.
I had few tests since then with Forza 4 and F1 2020 playing on xbox.... no motor shaking, no problem. I hope it qill stay like this.....and I was motivated from this forum and made a windsim to my rig.
Thumbs up for all the creative people here !! Awesome

Hallo Hanibal, i will check the baudrate after my qork and will post my settings.
i thought first, that i maybe should change it. But after studying simtools again i realized that my settings were not correct.
After correcting these settings it seems to work.
I will post my settings later
In SMC3 i have no issues.
    Fpid --- 2
    Kp ---75
Pwm max and rev ---- 180
    Pwm min---- 2

    thanks for your settings..
slower baud rate means grounding pin 8.....
so if u didnt ground pin 8, you are not doing anything baud rate related..

That was the question I asked myself. I also thought about changing the baud rate, but I didn't know how.
After a week and a few attempts it now works with the baud rate 500000 or the 40 ...... I went back to the settings of simtools and changed my wrong settings. It seems that this was the solution.
Hopefully. I'll drive a little longer on Saturday and see if the system remains stable

Here are my default settings in the game engine.
In the Game Manager Editor I fine-tune the number of desens.
I've heard that this is correct and you may find it helpful
