Finally started My 2DOF Sim

    hello guys, I officially started my 2DOF Simulator with loss of traction , I used to call it 3DOF but some good people in the forum convinced me that it is really a 2DOF with loss of traction, anyways I decided to use the great SMC3 code for Arduino and Monster Motor Shield as a drivers, and Wiper motors as actuators, still have some doubts about that last thing like, specifications about RPM and torque, I first made some tests with another code and 2 RC servos to learn the basics of the Simtools, I successfully connected the game manager and the game engine through my network and with the LFS I could get movement of the servos with the game (I forgot to take pictures of it)
    Now i Uploaded the SMC3 code to the arduino UNO and made all the wiring for one motor, using the SMC3 utils I can make the wiper motor move in both directions using the Pot. however I cant get any response using the Simtools, I made everything as i did with the other code, but nothing happens. Can anyone please point in the right direction? thanks!

    I am presuming all 3 motors have been properly connected and tested in SMC3.

    In your Interface Settings us 10bit for Output - Bit Range, not 8.

    Just keep in mind you will need cooling for the MMs.

    actually just one motor is connected right now, fist of all because i only bought that one to make the test, i'm not sure if is gonna be enough so bought it just for test, is a bit slow i think but strong, it doesn't have any sticker with the specs, so, do I need to have wired the the two motors to have any response from the simtools? with the other code i made it with just one servo and at the end with the two servos connected, I will fix the Bit range and get back with the results, thanks for that!.... and yes Sr! I'm working in the cooling system for the MMS

    In that case just configure the Interface Settings for the one motor.

    still no response, is there a way to make sure the game engine is communicating with the arduino? the SMC3 does, but when I try output testing in game engine nothing happens.

    hi @hoorbeast, first of all, thanks for the help, I did create a default profile, but I don't fully understand how it works, I'm still working on it, now I have the three motors instead of one as before, and everything wired, as I told you, when I was testing the simtools with the arduino code for RC servos I could make everything work with the LFS, but now i cant get any response with the SMC3, I checked and rechecked the wiring, the SMC3 utils communicate perfectly with the interface and the motors, but with the simmtools i don't get any response at all! there's must be something wrong in the interface settings or the axis presets but I don't get it, I'd really appreciate your guide, thanks in advanced.

    yes, all three motors are isolated, now the motors are working moving manually the axis in the game engine output testing, but when I execute the game, am error message pops up and closes the game engine, it says "invalid plugin", I excute game engine again but still the motors doesn't move with the game, anyway I'm a little bit closer. another issue is that both motor shield start to fail in the motor 2 output, it only moves one way :( i read in another post that it's a common issue with these drivers. thanks again for the help!

    Did you run a race in LFS in first person mode before patching it for motion, as that generates some required files.

    If not then unpatch LFS, close SimTools, run a few laps in first person mode, close LFS, open SimTools and patch LFS for motion.

    that's it! that was the problem, the simtools is receiving the game data, now i'm struggling with the potenciometers, not so easy to mount and center as I thought! thank you so much for your help, I'm back in track, I'll keep posting the progress.

    today I made a simple but functional support for the potenciometers, it works pretty fine but i intend to 3D print it. these are for testing purposes only, everything is working pretty well since @noorbeast gave me a lot of help with the interface settings, I'm posting some pictures, I would like some feedback about the SMC3 settings, keep getting some perturbations in the POT feedback when I increase Ki.

    They are samekind but i like onshape because i don't have to download software to my computers and no need for download upgrades. Do you have access to 3d printer?

    i've been trying to acces the site but for some reason it doesn't work, my project is delayed for budget issues sadly but next week i'll be working on the sim again. btw i don't own a 3D printer but I know a guy who does.

    after some weeks of dalay with my project dealing with another issues I'm back on track, I've been working with Sketch up (for the first time) and I came up with the conceptual design of my sim, i thought the first design was too "square" with so I inspired in other sims and came up with the final design (the blue one)

    hello! I'm finally back to work in my project, too many problems finding materials and some help for the welding, at the end i had to learn how to do it, and also I had to change the design with the circular tube and use the square tube again, because it was impossible to find the tools or someone who has it to bend the tubes at the exact angle in the design, so maybe for my next project I'll be able to do it the way I want. for I already have the two bases and I'm working in the rest, I hope I can get all done at the end of the next week
