    Hello folks,

I'll finally start the building of my 2DOF Motion Sim.

I already choosed the plataform material: wood. I'll use a medium square on the bottom, and a big rectangle on the top - the part that moves. No welding.

I was inspired mainly by 2 topics:

https://www.xsimulator.net/communit...0-and-no-welding-100-for-traction-loss.10947/ ---- no welding, just wood abilities.

    and https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/first-2-dof-diy-motion-sim.11799/

But before, I'd like some advices on mechanical parts. I already read a lot of excellent topics about the construction of Motion Sims, but often I don't understand the mechanical construction.

For example: I already choosed the motors - wiper motors - to use on the project. But I don't know even the full names of all the mechanical parts to put on my sim, to ask the salesperson on general store. Like L bracket, stem connected to the motor, "long" steam connected to the top of the simulator (the part that moves), the column that connects the base to the top (with the Universal Joint in the middle), heim joint, etc.

One of my biggest concern is buy the wipers and the power supply for it, but the "L brackets / stems / screws / etc" don't fix to it.

I'll post some photos of excellent projects I saw on XSimulator --- all of them made of wood, with focus on the mechanical parts.

Thanks in advance for all the help :)

Hey, M.E. here. I'm looking at some of the parts you asked about and I'll try to point you in the right direction.

Like L bracket: Looks like a standard 90° angle brace that can be found at most hardware stores. You'll wanna get something fairly thick to support the load, with 'gussets' if possible(it will look like a triangle, search gusset on 8020.net for reference)

stem connected to the motor: pretty sure that's a modified bicycle crank arm. You can use any long piece of sufficiently strong metal that you can secure to the motor shaft with a 'key'. Probably a 1/2"x1" aluminum piece would be sufficient depending on your load.

"long" steam connected to the top of the simulator (the part that moves): hard to pinpoint this one. I'll try to just list what else I see.

The long rods looks like what we call all-thread. It's just a really long threaded rod without a head. You cut it to length. Homedepot has them if you're in the US.

In addition to universal joints they are also using rod eyes for misalignment. https://www.mcmaster.com/rod-eyes

I also see some pillow block bearings mounted to the underside of the seat with a rod running through them.

Lastly they are using a type of sex bolt for the part that interfaces with the rod eye and all thread. Specifically one that is designed to claw into wood(that's what the sharp claws are for). Some examples can be seen here
    https://www.boltdepot.com/Sex_bolts.aspx

    Hope that helps.
