    Having purchased a 6 DOF system from DOF Reality, I am awaiting delivery (due next Monday) and would like to know if anyone else here has some experience with this rig and any tips for me regarding the build / setup etc.

    I have this rig. Pretty easy to set up. Simtools is confusing, but after I gave up DOFReality teamviewered in and set me straight in less than 10 minutes. Learn profiles and presets in Simtools.

    That sounds promising ! Especially regarding after sales service. How have you found the hardware in terms of reliability etc?

    I also have this rig. Do you have any game presets that you can share. This is my only issue, with the P6 is that it's not as plug and play friendly as their other models. Currently, has a limited amount of game presets.

    I'm also interested in getting this. I'd be especially interested in hearing from anyone who has upgraded their P3 to a P6, I'm swaying between the two. It's 95% racing that I'm interested in using it for, I believe that 6 degrees of freedom is considered more important for flight sims than racing but the extra movements can help make the movements more accurate/realistic than a 3 DOF rig. Is that right? How important do people think having 6 DOF is compared to 3 DOF for racing? There are few people who have directly compared both i guess.

    Yes it does, the P2 only does pitch and roll, the P3 adds yaw for traction loss which I believe is very useful for driving sims.

    Just a clarification, yaw (pivot around a center) and traction loss (pivot near feet) are two different force types and are experienced quite differently by the user (e.g yaw for helicopter and TL for drifting).

    Quite right. I guess pivoting at the front for oversteer and pivot from the back for understeer, though oversteer effects are more fun!

    I just assembled mine last night. I cannot believe... is this thing built for tiny people? I knew the weight limit was great, but wow, I should have asked about height accommodations.

    I'm only 5' 10" and am totally cramped, trying to move the pedals further out on the platform to get my legs out as they would be naturally in a car. The bars for the wheel dont go out far enough away from you, the chair cannot slide back because it hits the back frame of the platform, etc. Sheesh. I'm not excited about doing mods before it's even usable!

    Wow-pics? I’m 5”10” as well, and have no problem at all fitting in the rig. I bet you don’t have it properly adjusted. The center bars have holes that allow you to adjust the distance of the pedal plate. Also, do you have a universal slider for the seat that allows you adjust it’s distance? If not, order one online-they’re not expensive at all, and I think helpful for getting a comfortable seating position.

    I have the holes as far back as possible on the seat, and forward as possible on the wheel bars. You feel this is optimal? I'm willing to admit it's just my perspective, but dang.

    I also feel the wheel is too high, like reaching up unnaturally high. I set the bars 2 notches down, but it looks like I can't have it down or it would strike the motor (see last pic). I've not powered it up yet, still working out these issues.

    Pics show the wheel bars in the forward most position, the seat in the rear most position, and the last pic shows how I lowered the wheel bar a couple notches, which I assume I cannot do and have to revert to full height. In this setup, the wheel feels like it's too close to me, too high up, and the foot pedals are too close. I'd hate to invite my 6' 4" buddy over to try this! IMO, the main bar needs to be 6 full inches longer, and then use the holes to select tighter positions as desired.

    That said, here are some additional factors:
    1. I never drive my real car like this, I like more space, but... a lot of pro's say the wheel should come to the middle of your forearm when sitting back and reaching out, so technically I suppose the wheel is in the right spot - BUT no leeway, no way is this going to work for taller people with longer arms, and it cannot be adjusted as it is maxed!
    2. The wheel height isn't too bad 2 holes down like this (again, I probably am used to my real car set slightly lower), but it does seem like it's just too high when bolted in where it needs to be (so as to not hit those motors!)

    I also found that the wheel stand was too high and as you have mentioned, lowering it can cause it to collide with certain movements. In the end, I lowered mine by several notches and sawed off the excess. I think the wheel stand bars are a hangover from the older P2 and P3 models but are a bit too long for most when used with the P6.

    I didn't have any issues with the wheel position or pedals with mine, but it may vary depending on the model of wheel and pedals you use. Not to worry though, it would be easy enough to add a couple of aluminium plates on top of the existing ones with mounts to wherever you wanted the pedals and wheel to be. I'd recommend sending Igor at DOFreality an email, Many have found that their customer support is good and I'm sure he will be able to come up with a solution.
