Thanks for the info. Yes, as you said everyone is different plus this stuff is increasingly about individual face shape etc. Pimax doesn't move on my face at all, but I have it tight just as i had rift. I think I'll ask co-worker to bring his vive to try. I definitely did not like rigid mount of WMR and rigid straps scare me since

Is it difficult to put DAS on pimax?

I thought I was going to need that deluxe strap from what everyone else was saying but I held off until I actually had the unit in hand. Turns out that the strap for me is actually quite comfortable. If you get the top bit that goes over your head right then it does balance the weight more evenly. I have it fairly tight though so this might also help with it not feeling like it's sliding down toward the front of the face.

What mortified me was the comfort with the standard face 'cushion', or as I like to think of it is, a spare piece of cardboard they had lying around. It's god awful in terms of support and providing distance between your eyeballs being pasted to the lenses. The feel of it is actually quite nice, but it's just FAR to thin for any reasonably shaped face and nose. That is, anyone that actually HAS shape to their face. So pretty much anyone. What I did was pack the lower part of it out with some foam, underneath the standard cushion. It JUST gives me enough room and helps balance the weight even more. I was lifting the HMD up slightly with my hands when I was wearing it stock and could see exactly where I wanted the padding for maximum comfort. Didn't even need to order a custom cushion. I wonder how they would feel as they would push the entire HMD out further, not just the bottom.

    That is very disappointing :(

Pimax does not have as unified username/password across its various systems, it ius a real mess, so you have to create a new user for each system you use.

    What are your computer specs?

Have you tried re-seating the cable?

Try PM Doman.Chen on the Pimax forum.

I haven't tried reseating the cable, might try that now. I have a GTX 2080 and an i5 6600k cpu

Try both ends of the cable.

If that does not help PM Doman.Chen on the Pimax forum.

Thing is I risk being politically incorrect, but people of different origin have very very different face/head/noise shape, so... considering origin of this product (and Odyssey) no wonder certain properties don't fit some people, there's nothing wrong about it, because there's no such thing as "reasonably shaped face", all faces are reasonable, just different. All Pimax could do is offer multiple face plates/interfaces, and user will choose what works best. I believe, HMD coming with multiple interface options is the future.

That said, I find original strap surprisingly comfortable and adjustable. Thanks to SeatTime's posts, I now fitted my oculus' 18mm VR Cover on Pimax, and it seems nearly perfect!!!

Is DAS rigid or semi-flexible, like shmoculus' strap? Headphones are removable, right?

Yeah I get what you're saying. But, a smaller face can fit in a slightly deeper headset, a face with regular western features cannot fit into an HMD that is far too small or has a cushion too flat. It's a simple fix but something that probably needed to be addressed when the beta testers had the units. Surely Sweviver and company would have experienced the same thing? Who knows. At least we're able to fix it. Beyond that, physically the headset is near perfect for me. The plastic casing is very well put together and is very smooth and consistent overall. The strap is surprisingly comfortable out of the box once you adjust to your head shape and the display has no defects that I can see anywhere. I guess I was lucky to have gotten a later build where they hopefully sorted out the issues being reported. Or just very lucky.

I am surprisingly happy with my device too, none of my worries turned out worth worrying. Tracking - better than oculus, no drift, no weird shifts up. Software - lightweight, non-intrusive, does the job. FOV/resolution step up is amazing. Comfort - just slightly below oculus. Performance is fine. This is just awesome. I just hope device will last, but only time will tell that. It feels a bit fragile to me, and I have one dead pixel, but maybe I am just worrying too much :D

If they keep software non intrusive and let user to stay in control (as it is now), definitely buying their next headset.

I totally forgot about the drifting issue. I don't have base station so I thought this was something that might affect me. I haven't seen it. The smoothness is also amazing. I've struggled so badly at times with the Rift performance not related to GPU requirements. It's been a nightmare in the past with stutter and all sorts of weird things going on that graphics power just couldn't solve. It's been fine for the past 5 months or so funnily enough as the Pimax got closer and closer to delivery. I plan to keep both for the foreseeable future and only when I am comfortable that the Pimax does pretty much everything the Rift does will I sell the Rift. Who knows I might even just keep both. It's handy if one isn't working as expected especially when I rely on it for sim racing so much now.

Mine's on sale, without a single doubt. Going back to low FOV/resolution, let alone re-installing oculus' "ecosystem" is _unimaginable_ :)

Just had rain race in rF2 - rain never looked that good.

Dudes, I ended up grabbing a Vive base station. I have absolutely no idea how to connect it. Nothing seems to work getting the PC to recognise it. It's driving me mad.

My replacement 8K arrives on Monday. They seem to be getting on top of customer support, and the UK warehouse has stock. It will be 2 weeks from when I sent the original headset back when it arrives. That's not bad, and much better than some of the early horror stories.

I used the 8K for a week because it was only a base station tracking issue. It was very impressive vs my rift, in fact using the rift now it's obvious how much better the 8K is.

Interesting, I saw your posts on OCUK. I ordered a 5k just over a week ago and was wondering how long it will be. I suspect mine will take longer but good to hear things are improving.

I do get about a bit ;) You may have a wait, they seem to have switched to 8K production, which is why 5K+ guys are still suffering getting replacements...the cracking plastic seems to have affected the 5K+ mostly. They're doing ok for a startup, but they've annoyed a lot of people with poor comms.

Pimax is not new to the game.....

They've had a product out for years now. Their infrastructure should be better. That said, it's hard when you grow so fast, so hears hoping that they sort it out and manage it better from here on out.

Are people's units cracking with use or are they arriving that way? I've had mine for nearly 2 weeks now and although I haven't used it every day, it seems absolutely perfect out of the box.
