So if I were to buy a cover, the ones for the Rift will be compatible with the Pimax HMD?

So far I am using the HTC Vive narrow face cover, but I will be ordering the 16mm one for the Vive Pro, as I need to use my glasses else the Pimax barrel distortion is really bad: https://vrcover.com/product/htc-vive-pro-foam-replacement-16mm/

If you want more padding around the nose then the exhibition cover for GearVR may be the way to go: https://vrcover.com/product/samsung...proof-for-exhibitions-sport-consumer-version/

These cheap pads are also an option: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1PCS-18mm-...-Masks-Replacement-for-HTC-Vive-/132127899154

We need a custom cover from Pimax in order to tilt the bottom of the HMD to get clearer vision tbh. Try lifting the bottom of your hmd, you will know what I meant :p

That will not happen. The Pimax uses the Vive lighthouses for tracking. The Oculus tracking system is camera based - very different.

Depends if you don't mind there being a space around your nose? I quite like it so that I can 'peek' at all of my different peripherals Ie. mouse pad etc when required. This one is around 18mm in thickness.

I am not surprised, as I measured the minimum distance between the optical center of the two lenses (easy with the concentric rings/Fresnel lens) and it is around 6.9 mm. So as they are mounted on a slight slant inwards (for contrast the CV1 two lenses are flat and their optical distance apart mirrors the stated IPD), the distance your eyes are from the lens will effect all sorts of things optical wise.

Looks like I have finally got some traction on my sparkle issue. Pimax are going to send me a new headset cable :).

I just ordered a vive DAS.
The elastic headstrap and separate headphones are too fiddly. Especially since I'm so used to the vive after all this time.

I've had a bit more time in the headset now and I've found that some of the issues I had are different in various games.

I played space Pirate trainer in the wide view and it had far less edge warping than I experienced in onward on normal view. It was a great experience in this game.

I also found that in contractors, the trees where blurry (in distance) and I thought for awhile it was bad because of a small sweet spot. But it turns out that left eye renders some tree limbs, but right eye renders extra tree limbs.

I've also noticed that there seems to be a ghosted grey plane you can sometimes see side on in some head positions. I've noticed this in 2 or 3 games so far.

I'm still fooling around with settings some of this could be my fault.

But for me, my impression the pimax is improving over time

I’m also using a DAS with vr cover thick pad on the rear and a vive VRcover around the lenses. I’ve read the Samsung Odyssey vr cover is the best fit of all. I hadn’t seen that when I purchased.

I still can’t get a clear image without distortion though. This thing is just not designed for people with low IPD (despite what Pimax says).

Also still waiting for a replacement cable. 3 weeks and counting....

I've ordered a 5k+ to replace my CV1 this week, sounds like I should just order a DAS now, what is the audio like on it?

    Thanks

Far better than I expected and comparable to the Rift.

I agree about the audio . I’d say the DAS is essential to have any kind of comfort and stability in the headset.

Yes, optimistic I know, but you need to be (also very very patient) when dealing with PIMAX :). I actually backed a full 'X' system - don't expect to see that anytime soon .

I would actually like to pull it apart and play with the spacing for the optics. I did that with my last PIMAX and was able to improve the optics quite a bit. Unfortunately the head set I have is a 'loaner' until they bring out the 'X' in whatever year that will be....

I am using Pimax 5k+ using stock strap, and don't miss almost anything in terms of comfort (aside from thicker facial padding for my longer nose). Coming from CV1 and WMR, CV1 is just a tiny bit more comfy. On the other hand, CV1 was fogging until I replaced facial interface with VRCover, Pimax does not fog. So, I am not buying DAS. However, I use separate phones, and not everyone may like it.

    Just my two cents.

Edit: ah I see, it is Rift's, I'll try mine then.

Is this Rift's VRCover? Is it thicker than Pimax's stock facial interface? I'd like to move headset just a tad further to give more space for my nose. Thanks ;)

PS: the reason I am "not just trying it" I have severe motor skills issues and I do not want to tear original facial padding

Everyone is different I guess, but for Myself and my Son, the DAS is light years more comfortable then the standard strap. All the weight has been moved from what feels like the front of your face with the standard strap and it does not move/swing around at all when you move your head - so important in a motion rig. The Oculus VR cover that I used is 18mm thick while the standard PIMAX interface is only 12mm thick. Note that there are lots of different VR cover interfaces that you can purchase for the Rift. They both just peel off and on like velcro.

You guys are lucky, mine headset does not work. Both screens are blank and there isn't any audio. It tracks fine as I can see the image on my PC screen. Not sure if I have done anything wrong as this is the first time I am using a vr headset. I have tried to lodge a support call but the site doesn't recognise my login. After waiting for so long for something that doesn't work I am considering giving up and burning it.
