Spent most of the day installing the 3rd motor.
I still have the seat to install and the cockpit.
Wiring is all done and I spent a few hours making sure nothing would crash.
The video is not much to speak of.
The camera is sitting in the last car on the train.
The background TV has a known 200ms lag.

    Great job :thumbs

Do you have links to the motor and planetary gearboxes used?

    Sure...
The model number of the motor is 90st-m04025
The control box is RS485, 4NM 1000W Servo Motor Drive
And the planetary is a LRF90(16-80-m6-100)-20, Ratio 20:1 Speed Reducer
I use E-Bay for all my Chinese purchases. They have a great guarantee program if anything goes wrong.
    Motor and drive....

There is also a planetary called a PLF90 which is the same as the LRF 90 except its a NEMA 36 vs a NEMA 34. Only the output shaft face is slightly different between the two. Very slight.

Very nice, and smooth movements. Does the heave system also work well? Beautiful project with only 3 engines. Do you know how much weight you can wear now?

    Greetings

    Eric.

Hi Eric, The heave system works well as far as it elevating the seat up and down.
I am getting almost 100mm total movement.
The heave motion is a bit confusing.
I assume pulling G's results in a upward motion of the platform.
The question is does heave react if you are in "free fall" as in going down the steep hill in a roller coaster.
I have only sat in the seat when running Nolimits 2 and the colossus roller coaster.
In the sim when going down the hill (freefall) the platform begins to level out even though I should still be pitched full down .
Then just at the bottom of the hill it pitches full down again.
This never happened in the 2 dof configuration.
I reversed the heave axis on all 3 motors and it still did it.
I am modifying a few things.
I am going to raise the seat platform 50mm. So I ordered new threaded rods.
This will also enable me to gain another 25mm or so of heave.
Weight does not seem to be a problem. I am sure it is slowing the motors down a little bit..
It has to. But the response is very good and the backlash is near zero.
It has the feel of being very tight...
I have spent a lot of time in the tuning center and adjusting values on the axis assignment screen.
I think this is just normal since the heave motor has added the 3rd dof and complexity.
It must take the 6dof builders days or weeks to get it right !.

You need to post your build. I want to see what you are up to...:)

The total heave (vertical movement) is set to 100mm. That leaves about 40mm of splined shaft left for a safety factor.

    Ok I understand now...
the maximum vertical distance is 520 mm (fully extended )
minimum distance is 365mm (fully collapsed)

    hello,
    really nice project!
Could You share control method of Your AC servos? Do You have Motion Controller or It is connected directly do PC? How SimTools is setting?
    Please share details.

    thx
    Peter
