Changelog at the link but lots of new VR features and physics-based rendering are in.

Hi @Zed - Are you playing P3D in VR? If so, would you mind giving me some feedback on your experience in VR? (Or anyone else reading this for that matter)

I ended up getting a refund after V4 was released as I could not get VR running smoothly on my system. I'm keen to see if this has now been improved?
I've also upgraded my GFX card to a 1080 since I had Version 4.

I mostly sim in Xplane now, but I have hundreds of $$$ tied up in ORBX / Aerosoft / Aircraft DLC for P3D that I would like to re-use again :)

No VR = No play - for me.

    Thank you.

(On the driving front I'm currently wasting away in ETS2, so good is the VR experience in that!!)

Hey Archie, I'm running P3D a lot and having a blast with it in VR. I ditched FlyInside, though. I just run P3D straight with its native VR now. 4.4. It is a little fiddly in that I have to start Active Sky, start SteamVR, start P3D, start SimTools, start JoinFS, start TeamSpeak, load a flight plan if I'm using it, and then enable VR (4.4 has this as a separate step and I really am glad they did this). Then I climb into my cockpit, put on the headset, recenter my view, and off I go. It's definitely a process. Maybe even a ritual. But it works and works well. Lockheed-Martin really improved things with 4.4.

Hopefully that helps. Will DM you some stuff... ;-) Please let me know if any questions.

Wow that sounds like a bit of a chore.

How is the VR performance, any significant improvement or is it about the same?

It is a few steps for sure, but I’ve got the icons lined up on my desktop in order and just go down the line. I suppose I could script it but between Microsoft and Steam, I occasionally get hiccups with my sound and sometimes have to exit and restart SteamVR.

The VR performance is very good but I can’t run with SteamVR's Motion Smoothing enabled. When taxiing it causes a flutter in the image of the leading edge against the tarmac, and when looking through the prop there is a visual flutter in the image of anything on the other side of the prop. Motion smoothing makes things really smooth though, but I run without it. Hoping for an update that fixes it. It used to work properly.

I fly VR with the Oculus Rift in P3DV4.4 and it works well. There are still some areas where judder occurs, but, for the most part it works well. I use the native VR capabilities of P3D, not SteamVR. My PC is fairly strong though: 8700k @4.9 ghz, GTX 1080ti.
