Hi, I'm Kenji from Los Angeles. I'm looking to build a bicycle motion sim. Bicycle is almost always coordinated (balanced, no skid) so I think I don't need 6DoF. Centrifugal G is not simulatable with so maybe just incline and decline only?
Anyway it's going to be similar to MotoGP sim.
For the time being I'm modeling it using Arduino and 2 RC servos. Thanks!

    Hi all,
I'm in the UK and very new to simulators. Just got a DOF Reality H3 for my son which we assembled Christmas day.
This site has been great to get setup information and getting the sim working, but still a lot to learn to get it working well.
I have an electrical and mechanical engineering background but no real experience with computer interfacing.
It's great to see all the self build projects and the components being used.
I'll no doubt be asking lots of nooby questions.
    Thanks
    Jase

Hello everyone, I'm french, last week a friend of mine went home to test me his new steering wheel, a T500rs ... it did not take me more to make me want to build a new simulator. Some years ago I already realized a 2dof pneumatic simulator with xsim. This time I want to make a simulator with wiper motors and use another software control and it is natural that I came across your website. You do a great job and it makes me want to embark on this adventure again.

If you want to see my 1st simulator, seach '' Simulateur pneumatique X-sim ! " on youtube. (posted :19 april 2016)

    see you soon

    Hi everyone,
My name is Vincenzo and I'm Italian, I apologize if I'm often wrong to write English, I'll try to improve myself.
I have recently started the road to this forum, and I am happy to take part in this community. I'm a simulator pilot on "Assetto Corsa", and I make my simulators alone. Often I do not have time, because of work, but as soon as I have time to study and develop my simulators. I started with a 2dof simulator based on the simulator made by "RacingMat" which became my reference and then I developed another simulator with snc5 actuators. For the moment I'm still but I hope to come back soon to develop projects.
    We'll talk.

    Hello Everybody!
I'm Antonio from Varese Italy, and for the last few months I've been thinking about and planning my own 6DOF platform for my flight simulator.
I do have a 4 axis cnc that can handle aluminium, a 3D printer so I can custom build any fasteners, mounts, parts, etc . I'm thinking of keeping it fairly simple for now.
My final target is to animate an f16 cockpit completely made from scratch from one of my best frined extremely passionate on that plane, but to do that i need something that can handle easily something between 230 and 290 kg.
i know is not an easy way to start also because i think that i read all the buildlog that you post here guys (and i will say thank you so much for that)reconizing that i need for sure ac motors to have an adeguate power for the job.
as a starter i will build a smaller platform just to start to familiarize with the electronics and settings that i need to keep it going smooth and realistic.

any help from you guys will be veeeeery appreciated,
i still in doubt for now on witch kind of automation i need to move the platform, linear actuator or something different.

thank you so much guys, have a good day!

    Welcome @antonio adinolfi.

That is an ambitious aspiration, so doing something simpler first is very sensible.

    My Motion Simulator:
    2DOF, 3DOF
    Hello World,

I am Jem from Turkey, living in Bosnia. I am trying to build my first 3DOF VR Machine, like the Egg VR machines that have been populating shopping malls in the recent years. I am only 23 years old, soon to turn 24, graduated from Computer Sciences and Engineering only last year. I can say that I am a decent programmer, but a complete stranger to all things electronic and mechanic.

I am working on this project full-time already for the last 9 months. I made a trip to China for linear actuators and servo motors to move my motion platform. I am using a servo controller called MDBox, which I believe to be a Chinese hardware from a company called Syntron. I received nearly no support from the Chinese companies in programming a simulator, tried it myself and after many days of all-nighters and hardwork, I managed to move the actuators, and guess what, one of them crashed into the floor and a component in the driver broke! Not the actuator itself, but a component called the IGBT module, of the servo driver.

Anyway, that was a wake-up call that I had no idea what the hell I was doing. I found out about this through another client of the actuator company that I purchased from. So here I am, trying to figure out how to build a motion platform / simulator properly. Got no idea where to start, but I guess I'll find my way.

Looking forward to learning from you all!

    Regards,

    Jem

    Hello!

I'm from Sweden and have just started a 2DOF sim project which will be done in three steps...
Step 1. Build the control box with all electrical stuff like PSU's, JRK G2's and more
Step 2. Make a small rig for tests
Step 3. Finally a full size rig made of steel

It's a long term project and the goal is to finalize step 1 and 2 before the summer and then start the construction of the full size rig. By the mean time before starting step 3, I will decide the final layout, dimensions and details of the full size rig.

The construction of the electrical control box is ongoing, starting from a modified Dell server from which I will use the PSU's and put the rest of the electrical components inside the box. Got the JRK's yesterday but I'm still waiting for some missing contacts to connect the potentiometers, motors, emergency stop button etc. and switches to change the fan speed of the PSU's. I'm also waiting for a buddy to construct and make brackets for the JRK's in his 3D printer. (see attached image)
A detailed thread about the construction of the control box will be published when finished.

The small test rig will use 12V/2W worm gear motors and will help me to test that everything works as expected and to play with the settings before I start the construction of the full size rig. (see attached image).

Finally, thanks to all in this forum who share experiance and tips about their projects in this community!

You can test your simulator with the demo version of SimTools (https://www.xsimulator.net/community/marketplace/motion-simulation-software-simtools.63/) and Live for Speed (https://www.lfs.net/).
For this setup you don't need additional plugins.
    Enjoy!
