    Hi all,

A friend and I have started a 2DOF motion simulator with a third axis. The 3rd axis is used to simulate rotation movements (drifting).
We have ordered two SCN5 actuators and one SCN6 actuator and we hope that three actuators arrive in early May to Canary Islands.

However, last week we have started to build the structure of simulator.
In this post I will put the progress of our motion simulator.
I hope to receive feedback from the X-sim community to improve it

To begin I have attached some images of the initial structure.

    1. Initial structure. You can appreciate a rotation axis and two wheels at the end

    6. Static seat with base for pedals and handwheel (seat structure)

    7. Seat on the structure (it is not mounted).
We are seeking a pivot to put the seat structure on the rotation structure.

I spoke with Mirai about this. The said that the command set is the same because they use the same controller. However, I am not certain about your serial number detection function, and thus far, I do not have any info on the serial number schema for the SCN6. However, it should be fairly simple to adapt the SCN5 Plugin source to the SCN6 if the information I received is correct.

    Hi,

I will test it when SCN6 arrives.
I hope that it will be compatible. SCN6 are more expensive than SCN5 ;D
In another case, I will re-code SCN5 plugin for adapting to SCN6

    Hi all,

    I've received the actuators :yippiee:

    P5310396_mini.jpg

I've tested SCN5 actuators and they were right.

Next days I will test SCN6 with SCN5 plugin. I will inform if it is compatible

    Hi all,

I have installed the SCN5 actuators in simulator. I have tested it with GTR2, and it is fantastic
    I attach several images.

    Hi again,

Also, I have tested SCN6 actuator. It is automatically detected by Force-Profiler using SCN5 serial.
I've used Test plugin in Force Sender and it was right

Attach image with connection diagram with ILK protection. It is similar to SCN5. However, the pins connection is different.

    ilkswitchscn6wiring_v.jpg

Next step is to install SCN6 in the simulator. However, I have a doubt:

Effects 25 and 27 are used to simulate lateral and longitudinal forces.
Is there any predefined effect to simulate drifting or rotation movement (in GTR2, rFactor, GTR Evolution plugin) ?
or it has to be captured/configured with Yoda program?

    Regards,
    David

GTR2 and SimBin games do not provide rot axis. But RFactor and iRacing do for example.

    Thanks Ego,

but what does effect is used for rot axis in rFactor?

You can use the Yaw, Pitch and Roll outputs of rFactor. In your case, you need the Yaw output. See this link for a better understanding of Yaw, Pitch and Roll. http://www.grc.nasa.gov/WWW/K-12/airplane/yaw.html

    Thanks Bernard.

Tomorrow I'm going to install the SCN6 actuator in motion simulator, and I will test Yaw effect with rFactor.

Ego posted that SimBin games do not provide rot axis. However, Yaw, Pitch and Roll effects take values from Force-Sender in GTR2 game. Although these values in GTR2 are higher than rFactor. Are these effects used for another thing in Simbin games? Which?

How could I configure an effect for rotation axis in GTR2? Only with Yoda?

The drift effect is the Y-rot-accelleration, which isnt provided by SimBin games.

Though Sirnoname probably could be able to add it to the math table, by calculating it out of Y-rot value and time imho. Like G-force out of speed and time.

I hope Sirnoname can do it.
    It would be fantastic

One more question: Do want to move the flatscreen/beamer or keep it fixed?
I think it would be difficult to drive a good line, when the screen holds the position and your seat is rotating away from the center of field of view, except you use a very large screen or the mentioned projector.

    Hi,

we also have the same doubt.
At the beggining we will put the flatscreen in fixed position and we will do some test.
Then, we will put the flatscreen above rotation axis and we will do some test again.

After doing that, we will decide which is the best option.

Anyway, the length maximun of displacement will be about 25 cm to the left and 25 cm to the right. Therefore, seat will not be away from the center of field of view.

We are thinking to use 24 or 26 flatscreen

    Hi all,

today I have tested Yaw effect using rFactor game. However, it does not operate as I had thought.
I have combined Yaw and Roll effects and it improves a bit, but it does not like me.
Next days I will try to improve it (combining effects, fixing maximum values,....)

Wish you goog luck on it. I would love it to see a third SCN5/6 working with good results.

    Hi all,

I have used effect 32: Yaw aceleration on the third actuator (SCN6), and it goes right.
    Values fixed on effect:
    - Minimum value:50
    - Maximum value: 350

I will try to record a video to show it in the forum.

    regards,
    David
