    Hi guys,

Thinking of buying a 3d printer. Will probably get a lot of use on a sim build

Do you have any recommendations ?

I have no clue what is good and not good

    Thanks in advance

I have a flash forge creator pro. Its been working for 3 years without problems, other than maintenance which is a pain to disassemble/ reaseamble.

I use replicator G for my G-code. other programs cause problems with their start sequence and replicator G does its job.

I use 123D design for my 3D modeling

    export as .stl

open in replicator G and setup for printing

All I can say is its still working fine and I can buy parts for it. Print quality is good @ 0.2 MM resolution but who knows whats out there now.

they can be bought for around £600 which seems like a good deal for an enclosed printer

there are plenty of cheap kits but i dont really want to be wasting time building a printer - i want the printer building parts for a sim !

Prusa MK2 still very good and affordable 3D printer and the newer MK3 should be even better with more useful functions like removable bed sheet, filament sensors etc.

The Creality Ender 3 Pro works well, and is as cheap as chips. I'm going to order the glass bed as well.

An enclosed printer is only important if you want to print ABS, personally I only print PLA & PETG currently so enclosed isn't important.

I've got a Tevo Tarantula & Creality Ender 3 Pro, can say the Ender 3 is a very nice unit for it's price. If you want something with a bigger build platform the CR-10 is a very popular model.

I've got an Ender 3 Pro, upgraded to borosilicate (glass) bed, and with a raspberry pi connected running OctoPrint, so you can print over wifi. You can afford two of them for the price of the big name printers! The microSD-card reader is pretty terrible on it (hence adding the raspberry pi), but I think that's a common problem with Cura based printers.

I purchased an anet a8 printer on amazon for £107 4 weeks ago to print various parts for my sim. it works good if you set it up properly and made a good job of assembling it. printed many parts with ok results but some of those parts have been upgrades to the printer itself to improve print quality. still good for the money though.

Hello, I bought a BIBO 2 Touch for 800 € on Amazon. They have very good support which helps a lot, especially in the beginning. Have all the parts printed with it for my ring in PETG.

Hi, I build my own printer with arduino and it's complicate to calibrate. So if it's only for few part maybe you can go in a store or a fablab to print all.

    Regards

Check your local Meetup groups for 3D printing, colleges, and libraries. They very often have access to 3D printers you can use without needing to purchase your own. Unless you're intending to print all the time..

I personally use the Photon by Anycubic resin 3d printer. Unbeatable value although the print area is relatively small but being a resin printer the parts are really strong

I currently have the Anycubic Kossel delta Plus, had to flash new firmware except for that it is an excellent printer good quality prints at higher speeds printed quite a few parts for my 2 Dof motion ring on it.
