Just watched the latest review from MRTV. From the through the lens comparison pictures it looks amazing, especially for the price.

Not surprising, that sort of image quality at that price - back order, back order, back order....I would of purchased one, but have backed a PIMAX.

Its really unfair from Samsung to sell this only in the US. They deserve a Europe boicot...

There are on line companies who will buy and then ship it to you.

The down side is that warranty can then be an issue.

It definitely would be. For what it's worth one of the main terms and conditions is that you can't purchase for resale purposes.

Yes, not a perfect solution with postage cost + fees, but most will also look after returns for a fee/postage of course.

I think that the best way to buy it from US in Europe is by Amazon.com with AmazonGlobal Shipping. Obviously the cost is higher. For example now it cost 299$ and if I buy it from Italy I pay 420€ in total (vr + shipping + taxes)

    No. In Finland it is 24% VAT so $330,30 x 1,24 = $409.57 (~360€). No tariffs

You are lucky, in my country the taxes (import tax + vat) are a lot higher

Well my Odyssey+ cost me $1942usd when all was said and done. $325 for the HMD with tax and since I've been holding out on VR until I deemed a technology worthy of replacing my beloved 3dVision, $1600 for a new gaming computer and $17 for an external cd-dvd drive since it didn't come with a built-in one. But since I built my last gaming pc around 6 years ago I suppose it was time for an upgrade:p. Hopefully the i7-8700 and the RTX 2080 I have now will last as long but for some reason I don't think so now that I've jumped into the VR money pit.

Yeah even though I'd already had a Rift and Vive, when I got an Odyssey in early 2018 the higher resolution forced me into a GPU upgrade -- right when crypto mining had made them ridiculously overpriced and scarce. Since I wasn't willing to pay 3x MSRP I had to settle for a not-quite-high-end card, plus the rest of the machine was still 4 years old and a bit stuttery, so several months later I finally ended up building a completely new system.

I'm also in the Pimax kickstarter, so in a few months that headset's going to show up and make everything feel under-powered again.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I realize many are out of the US, but rift, vive pro, pimax are already available, and there are a few vr headsets coming soon. If you do not have the opportunity to spend a month using a headset with no hassle returns, it's a good thing.

It's all marketing with "price drops" and "shortages." This headset has many issues (all headsets have something), and you can't trust what you see or read online, even from me ;) You are the user and should test the product yourself.

The first Samsung was by far remains one of the worst "mixed reality" headsets even though it has quality earphones. It's not all about resolution, but people get hung up on it. It'd be nice to have a loaner service / exchange where people from this forum paid for shipping and could borrow these headsets across the world :) :)

Rift, vive pro, pimax, even the dev versions of the wireless vr kits from htc and rift are better from pure technical non biased reasons you won't find on spec sheets. For example, the lens design of certain headsets that results in minimal viewing angle, although listed FOV is "high quality," breath-ability and more. Even though the rift "smashes" the users face, in some respects and game/sim play it can still be comfortable because of the wide diversity of users and the rush to complete "ergonomic" headsets that weren't tested across a wide enough sample and improved upon using the results from the sample.

The tracking is definitely improved across ALL windows mr headsets and is perfectly fine for use cases without controllers. All of them including this new odyssey still have issues with roomscale tracking. You can have a great experience, but if you've used the vive or roomscale rift / other full tracking systems, you WILL notice a difference depending on the style of game - the tracking simply isn't there.

Finally, irregardless of listed or unlisted specs, age or popularity of a headset - if something works for you / your business, PERFECT as that's all that really matters :)
