it depends. For racing is the best choice. But for general purposes, many other options exists, like a electrical motors.

Guys I gave up on using a linear actuator, I am thinking of using a DC motor. Can someone help me on what kind of motor should I use and its specs :(

Will a 12v worm gear motor be enough sir?.. It has a 200w, 180rpm and 20Nm torque :)

Those DC motors are ideally suited to shoulder mount designs. But again you need to finalise and provide a design before people can really comment on what motors to use with the chosen design.

Is that simulator presented somewhere in the forum?
I would like to know what seat is that?

Thanks, but I know about other projects, I am just interested in the seat type from that screenshot.

Can you post a link please?

    Hi Robert,

since you are heading for a roller coaster simulator, you should consider the following:
The picture in your post shows a seat mover, which means that only the seat itself moves while your feet stay fixed on the ground.
This kind of simulator is suited for rather small pitch and roll angles, like for racing games where you want to feel road bumps and small, hard acceleration movements.
Due to my own experience, a seat mover is not suited for larger pitch and roll angles, which you may want to have in a roller coaster simulator.

Imagine a roller coaster going up or down a hill, which means that your seat leans backward or forward. For simulating such pitch angles you may want to have some larger movements. Not too large, but an overall angle of 10-20 degrees is reasonable for me. The same is true for the roll axis.

If your feet don't move together with the seat, you will feel your knees stretch and bend while your seat moves backward and forward, which feels very unnatural. After I made exactly this experience with my initial seat mover build, I started immediately converting it into a full frame simulator in which the entire body is moved. That means, your foot rest (or pedal mount) is connected to the moving seat.

For such a build you probably need stronger motors. Also this was an experience I made, because my initial motors were far to weak.

@noorbeast was asking you where you are located, because some motors are easier or harder to get depending on the country or continent in which you are living.

Of course you can start with a seat mover build and maybe you will be totally lucky with it, since the personal sensation of the simulated motion is a very individual thing. Besides, the building process can represent a large part of the overall fun with such a project. However, every iteration on your build costs money, so that initial design considerations like those above can save costs.
