    Stepper motors are no good for FFB wheels as far as I've been able to find, look at the thread @Gadget999 mentioned above.

    If you're on a budget you're probably best off having a belt or gear drive, a basic FFB wheel needs to have 4-5Nm of torque and a motor that can produce that much for DD is expensive.

    there are plenty of cheap DC motors that can be used for a DD - the first thing a racing driver will do when they use a DD wheel is reduce the power to make it feel more realistic

    look for the ty1020 motor

    How do you think a weaker motor would work? I am thinking of using the 150W MY6812 with 1:7.5 belt drive.

    EDIT: Nevermind, 250w MY1016 is only £5 more so much better.

    So is a dc motor better than a motor stepper or servo motor ?!

    use a servo or DC motor - a stepper motor is designed to apply power in steps so is not as suitable - but they can be made to work

    I think 100w motor is better because it is colder and still can result high torque by increasing the ratios..

    The cost of a good motor needs to be offset against the cost of gears and belts

    It works out better to build a direct drive wheel with a good motor imo

    Hi guys, so I realized the dc motor and servo motor are good, but the servo motor are very expensive so I will opt for DC
