As the title says I want to get your opinions about the 1080ti vs 2080. I have a 1070 which is holding up but really looking forward to getting ACC and think it may struggle as it does with pc2.

    What you think guys ?

I'm running a founders 1080 slight overclock and an i7 6700k not overclocked...
With everything medium to high running 3840 x 2160 and a 15 car field I get a pretty steady 75 to 80 frames.... so....
go with the 2080 IMO, I know I will when it becomes available (2080ti)

When I recently upgraded to a I7 8700K all my bottlenecks disappeared with the 1080TI. I'm now running FS2 on Ultra - works fine. Cannot see myself parting with Approx $2000 AUD for a Video card any time soon.

Was in a email sent to me from PLE computers - some other sites (EG. PC Case Gear) did have stock, but it was snapped up as soon as it when up for sale . People sure have more money to waste then me.. that's basically $1,000 more then what I paid for my 1080Ti.

    2000 AUD = around 1450 USD = around 1250 EUR

That's pretty high for not so much of performance improvement against 1080 Ti, which I have too.

I was little hyped when news about those 20xx GPU came out, but after reviews, I'm gonna skip this series.

Yes I agree it's just terrible performance given the time we have waited. I was expecting a similar 1070 to 980ti pergoperfor for slightly cheaper. The problem I have is that the 1070 just cannot perform in project cars 2 so I got to pick one ! Decisions hey.

With the new cards coming out, I see lots of really nice 1080's and 1080 ti's going up for sale.
Maybe grabbing a used one at a good discount would be an option?
    Take care,

I worry about warranty but yes it is an option. I am leaning to the 1080ti and might go for used and then use money for a upgrade to a new wheel. Is they any manufacturers I should be looking out for when it comes to used ? Thanks

I think maybe that is the best option. Or 2 times a cheaper card like a 1070 in SLI, maybe cheaper but the same performance as a 1080ti.

I have a 1080ti and a delid 8700k pushing 5.3ghz, bottleneck is the CPU. It depends on your game/simulator. If there are lots of objects being rendered (traffic, shadows, reflections) you will get way better results spending the same on an overclocked i9 lol. Also depends on VR or monitors. Racing sims, jesus - stock i3 and 2080 Ti.

I havent had a chance to test flight sim in VR with my setup at the moment, if I have to I will get the 2080 Ti, but again its ray tracing which will need 5 years to be implemented in every game. at the moment its not too great an improvement to warrant an upgrade. Too many variables brah, look what your game needs and how you play it. Racing in VR is 100% graphics card so go nuts.

Thanks for your response, going to wait till Wednesday and see how I cope with ACC but got my eyes on a 2080 but really don't want to .

Yes it does with Nvidia, 1 GPU per eye, no joke.

Only on VR games that are compiled to support VR SLI, and that is hardly any.

On that note - this is why I got a waterforce 1080 ti AIO. You want the best single card you can get. In general, SLI etc is a fad. I would get the 2080 ti for a little bit more because it'll keep you happy for a while.

It's also easier to sell, handle, buy, warranty and SET UP. plus all of those are guaranteed. You bring another into the mix and its a whole other ball game.

I'm going to buy a used 1080ti the arse has dropped out of them pricewise. I can get a used one for around £450 from flea bay.

I really wanted a 2080ti but the price is just way way too much for such little gain.

I looked the games up, you are right, it is only a hand full of games. So I have to agree, SLI was never the best option, but it seems pretty bad for VR. Seems like a single card has more advantages.

Just an FYI but new 10 series cards are apparently starting to dry up. Anyone choosing to go that route might want to monitor the supply.
