No disrespect to you, or your current efforts, but motion sim enthusiasts have been pressuring Oculus to include motion cancellation since the DK days, if and when Oculus ever changes its publicly stated position it will be because it sees motion simulation as a viable part of the VR eco-system, not because of one hardware manufacturer.

Not to belittle your efforts, but here it comes. (imho)

when sim enthusiasts have been pressuring Oculus since DK days, with no results... that is proof that what a community of sim enthusiasts want, really doesnt matter that much to a big company/cooperation. DIY motion platforms are and always will be limited to a smal number of enthusiasts, and not something which will results in more sales of any measurable kind for Oculus.

Its a huge difference when ppl with DIY setups want something, and when a (upcomming) manufacturer with big plans of mass production of the hardware come asking.

A manufacturer with a low priced cool platform, like Feelthree and Yawvr - those are the ones which will be able to convince Oculus - not an enthusiast community, I am sorry to say.

The proof is in the pudding - as your own statement show - you have been trying since DK without any results.

I wouldnt be to surprised if we see the same thing with Frontier/ED. Maybe they get the API for telemetry data fixed if Feelthree and Yawvr push them a bit.

We will have to agree to disagree on this one.

    No problem, I agree. :)

I did plan to build a 6dof, and have for the past year tried to do mine regarding begging on frontier forum for an API for telemetry data. But from what I understand, that is a futile effort. :-/

Ended up with feelthree, as my main interest is space-sim. Putting my hope in that Feelthre and Yawvr will be able to talk some sense into Frontier regarding a telemetry API.

I would be very happy if this can be sorted out, but in the meantime this is what I use (before and now after the availability of software motion cancellation) - not for everyone - but works well on my rig (two axis stabilized camera platform).

For whatever it’s worth, which so far isn’t much, Valve said motion cancellation is on their roadmap. Thing is they said that probably a year ago and it’s still not an option in SteamVR.

I started a thread in the SteamVR feature requests section of the customer support board and asked if others would/could add their voices in support. Only a few from here did.

So as much as people have said they want it, it seems few are interested enough to even ask.

But Valve did say it was on their roadmap at least at the time. The dismal resonse could even have bumped it further down.

As far as I know the motion cancellation software still works fine with the Vive, I have a Rift, which only stopped working when they went to a new version of the Vive software some time ago.

I just want to congratulate feelthree on their successful kickstarter campaign! Your successful campaign goes to show that people want cost-effective motion simulators with greater rotation in all axes and Congrats!

This was my fourth Oculus Connect. I've spoken to LOTS of Oculus people, there and in other places. Not a single one of them has any idea about what I'm talking about or why I would want this...

So Oculus has been ignoring you as well as everyone else over the last 4 years.

As I said in my view if and when Oculus ever changes its publicly stated position about not implementing motion cancellation in the Oculus SDK it will be because it sees motion simulation as a viable part of the VR eco-system, not because of one hardware manufacturer.

Where is it's publicly stated opinion? I don't think it has one....

Palmer was never the decision maker on this. Even before he was kicked out I would have to tell nearly everyone he was only the founder, not CEO, or CTO. He had a vote on the board.

"our SDK is open enough to make it do what people want". This changed with the 0.8 SDK.

You can't quote a three+ year old comment from someone who was their mascot as the definitive and final statement on their position... :p

The stated public position was from the Chief Software Architect and Founder of Oculus. Can you provide any official public statement by any Oculus decision maker refuting that?

Why do you think Palmers opinion or statements matter anymore? Especially from three years ago? They barely mattered then, every time he opened his mouth he got into trouble :p

    Palmer CSA? Lol

What matters is that it was not just Palmer's position, but more importantly also the Oculus Chief Software Architect, and objectively up until now the official position matches what Oculus has done, and likely will do until Oculus sees motion simulation as a viable part of the VR eco-system. I would be interested in any exiting senior Oculus statement to the contrary, if there is one.

OcBook want 1 billion people in VR so they can chat and watch adverts. That is the stated priority and motion cancellation is waaaay down the priority list and a 2nd gen Rift looks quite low down too especially with Brendan's exit IMHO. I believe we'll be dependent on SteamVR for a while to come, so hopefully they will crack foveated rendering and make true nexgen resolution+FOV feasible.

@traveltrousers - Is the offer still open to come and check out your latest setup? I'm on Rift now but resigned to a switch to something SteamVR powered.

I would suggest an email to demo@feelthree.com and I'll put you on the list for when I'm back

I know Feel 3 has been mad busy, but whatever happened to the pre-Kick Starter raffle? Weren't they drumming up interest (and emails) with this give-away stunt? Haven't heard of any results by email nor seen any results on their website. Was something overlooked?

I don't know but I found this BS. Its obvious he didn't listen to any of the experts here.
I've got news for them, you can't really simulate g-forces with 100 degrees pitch and roll either.

And for those asking about its motion cancellation.
