Don´t think so, at the moment people can only write own game telemtry provider (like Game Plugins)

Hi there, just checking what is the sketch we need to upload to the aduino? or is there another FAQ that I am missing? Really appreciate you sharing your project with us here!

Guys i need your expert opinion on the lineary bearing. LMEK30UU

saxxon66 (michael) posted on the German forum they are not the same. I have looking and comparing the 2 for over half an hour now.

Am i missing something ? Or do you guys agree they are identical? Or at least the left one can use for this project.

So basically this is a closed system?
Seems like people would be spending a lot of money and hoping the software evolves.

Why not give people options on software to use?
I guess we could do some serial port sniffing to figure out the control protocol in order to build a interface should we really need to.

No matter thou, what do we have here?

Has someone been chatting with mirai inter-tech, I think so!
Preliminary specs : 500mm/s can lift 750lbs. (stronger and 5x times faster than D-Box lol)

Running it all out to see what they can do (without anyone in the sim) we hit a bump and the whole sim jumped a couple of feet off the floor lol. Time to look at a 'speed filter' for SimTools I guess. :thumbs

It's hard to imagine that not to long ago people were all excited about 7 position air powered simulators lol. Boy has this hobby come a long way!

    Take care!

Basicaly this is a project done by one man for the purpose that everybody which can screw some screws and print some part can build 4 actuators for the price of one you posted :) ( if these are the ones thanos spammed into the prosimu thread)
Maybe you can just respect this thread and delete the things which doesnt apply to the thread like the super duper actuators ? No offense buddy.
No Sniffing needed, or ? Everything is documented in github, electronics, driver settings ..

    @Ringorumble,
There are a lot of actuators coming out like this, it's no secret I think buddy.
Of course building them yourself is cheaper, why else would you do it?
This web sight has always been about us DIYing stuff ourselves.
And since SimTools is aimed to support as much hardware we can, and since I thought this was a cool community project, I thought I would try to support it is all.
Why? because I love DIYing stuff, just like everyone else here.

The point of my post is that there are options like this for SimTools.
For me at least, not everything is documented in github, as there is no explanation of a control method to use them with anything but the software you mentioned.
I really meant no disrespect, just that some setups already work with xsim, simtools, etc...

If I were to built some, I would want to run them with the project (SimTools) I have been working on for a decade, I hope that makes sense.
I'm sorry if your offended, it's never what I would want from a post.
    Take care,
    yobuddy

I don't see why we're locked into using the controller and software as demonstrated via the project. There are other options for USB controller/interfaces available, such as the Thanos AMC-HS which can be used. Combine the AMC-HS, which works with Simtools and various servo drives and you have options, but of course they're not DIY USB interfaces, so you'll pay a little more. I've got one on order.

They are about 450-500 euro each depending your location/shipping/taxes ect ect.

I almost got all the parts : fixed & linear bearing, rods, ball and screw nut and have finished printing the first parts of the acculator.

First impression : it all feels very very solid.

There have been quite a rush on parts from the shopping in germany, many parts are now in backorder.

@HoiHman Looks great ! Misoswan asked for the price of the other actuator in this thread which yobuddy posted ...

@yobuddy can you just clean up your post and do a extra "promo" thread for that actuator and also put misoswans question there, would be nice ?
I am not offended. maybe people should check out the integrated software which has some nice functions, maybe you too ?
If people dont like it, everybody can go for programming a sketch (me not, too dumb) and post it if he likes . or go for a thanos controller.

Maybe we all can be "happy" that there is another DIY Software option out, and saxxon did not the "commercial" move ? So maybe you could respect if he does his own software and is not focused to let other software run that actuators based on his sketch ?!?

okay guys 3D prints ordered. But i like to go back to rFactor 2 plugin. like i said i only run that software.....(for a reason)..... and i would like to get this project supporting that game also. Now there is a plugin available that is called SharedMemory https://forum.studio-397.com/index....tools-for-developers.54282/page-4#post-940248 and the guy who made that said to me that was 95 percent of the job. does this help anybody to get rFactor 2 running in this project with the software of Michael?

Sorry if i sound ignorant but again i have zero, nada no coding knowledge.

Rather than reinventing the wheel it would be helpful to have the actuators interface with SimTools, as a plugin already exist for rFactor 2, plus many other games: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/marketplace/rfactor2-plugin.37/

@yobuddy is willing to do that, but access to information about communicating with the actuators is being treated as a closed system:.

    @noorbeast @RaceRay @yobuddy
This Forum is about DIY Motion Simulation , right ? The project i presented and is created by saxxon is DIY and includes a software to use them.

Or is it Sim Tools own DIY Motion Simulation forum ? And every DIY project which is posted has to be that open that Sim Tools can be used ? If yes, make this clear and you can delete this thread.
The Banner says " X-simulator -DIY Motion Simulation"

If you don´t want that i post here anything else about this project, let me know ...

PS: if somebody wanna play game A and its not supported, there is a documented telemetry provider how you can write his own plugin, so its open as decided and needed.

I think you misunderstand, what people have asked about is giving DIY actuator builders the opportunity to also interface them with SimTools.

It wasn't my intention to start a fight over this. But i also thought this was a diy forum where one could ask questions for help.

It's perfectly fine imho that Saxxon has done it the way he did. But then again i would had expected a more helpfull reaction than well sort it out yourself and stop asking.

Like said diy is a nice hobby but one is good in mechanics and the other in coding. Would be great one would help the other.
But 300 euro worth of 3d printed stuff going to collect dust till maybe one day .......

    Thanks for your attention

@Edwin My answer was not the answer to your question, it was the answer to noorbeast reaction on your question :)

Sorry if you felt that way. At the moment Rfactor2 is not supported , but is on the list to do as far as i know.

just for the info, its not meant rude in any way .
if the game you like is not on the supported list on the wiki you shouldnt start building until it is , Peace :)

I thought this was a forum where people could ask questions about projects?
Since allot of us here have SimTools already, to me it seems like a pretty innocent and obvious question. ;)
And if it works with SimTools, it also works with XSim. :thumbs
So the question was not specifically about SimTools at all.
It's about letting people use there expensive DIY actuators with any software they want so they can get the most use out of them.

Yeah, sure, thats why asked if its allowed to post things like that, because its the impression i get from the answers / posts you and noorbeast do.
Its not a question, its more that you and noorbeast claim something. Like politics, say something not so nice and then say, oh, it wasnt meant that way :)
You asked the question , you got an answer. But seems like you don´t like the answer. So you go the (for me) negative way , talking bout sniffing, promoting an commercial actuator in this thread, and so on ...

In the end its DIY .Nobody has to build them when his game is not on the list or his favorite software is not supported,

But maybe its only my feeling and i am completely wrong

    Cheers
