Thanks guys. Got the bass transducers mounted on the seat and wiring complete. Just waiting on the actuator mount that will bolt to the platform for traction loss and the mounting rod for the oculus camera. Might still be finished today. Then I can finish cleaning up the rest of the wiring .

Played with the actuators a bit today. Has 9° of roll each way. Didn't measure pitch yet.

Final pieces have been installed. Bracket for the traction loss ended up hanging off the platform. Just pulled it away from the wall a bit for now.

Nice rig and a nice GSD you have too.
I have one myself called Jack :)
    Plus I'm building a budget 2Dof sim

Dino is my boys name, he's always right next to me, even trying to climb in the rig while I'm driving. For a while he thought he got a new bed.

    Great name Dino.
That is what most people call me.
Jack is a little too big to fit in the sim as he weighs 55 kg.
No one will try and steal your gear with Dino on the job.

Yeah, he does a good job. Just took some random shots of it in its completed form. I'm considering ditching the fanatec wheels and just going with a custom Ricmotech or something. I used to run the sparco wheel from my real car on the DD but didn't have buttons or paddle shifters. Just haven't been a huge fan of the fanatec since switching to them(Porsche and f1).

That is really cool! I have the ProsimU T1000 3DOF and love it. What sim do/will you be racing on? Also, curious where you got the transfer balls from? I'd like to order a few more for my rig.

I racing and asseto corsa are the two I spend the most time with. I got the transfer balls from McMaster Carr.

Gotcha. I just got on I Racing last night. Did about an hour of testing in a few different cars.. It's for sure different from PC2. LOL. I looked through McMaster Carr for 20 minutes and can't find those bearings w the roller ball in them. Super technical online store! Can you give me a PN or some way to locate them? I'm not familiar w names of all the different parts and there are a ton. Didn't see any with a ball in them.. Thanks!

Rig in motion. Front bearing plate makes a lot of noise, that will be getting redesigned. I'm been struggling with trying to get my oculus connected. This is running on sim commander, I've been using sim vibe for a few years so its just a more familiar software at the moment.

Is that clunking noise the bearing ?
Sounds like it has a lot of freeplay/backlash so does it have any adjustment for tension.
I thought that a Torrington style roller bearing would work if you found the the right size for the load.

Yes it is. There currently isn't anyway to preload the bearing. I thought about drilling a hole in the center and putting a lag bolt through. But my buddy doesn't like solutions like that. Sounds like we'll be doing a sealed bearing that will mount on a pocket on the platform.

I thought of using a sealed roller bearing pressed into a steel collar which would weld to the base and a matching pivot pin with a light press fit and just the shear weight and gravity should keep it in place, but I myself would still want a security bolt just in case.

Yeah, I figured the weight would be enough for this to be fine. But once those actuators start hammering it jumps pretty good.

The bearing I was playing with was is about 75 mm. diameter with bore size of 35 mm. diameter
You would need a lot of force to bugger up that size of bearing I'd say.

I originally went through each effect separately and adjusted to levels I thought were appropriate. But when I turned everything on I nearly got my teeth shook out of my head. I'm at about 20%of what I started at. Once I got the rift working the bumps just felt over exaggerated and un natural. I'm sure I'll be playing with tuning for some time to come.
