The StarVR specs are impressive, what I would call the first Gen 2 HMD, but it is aimed at commercial use (read very expensive), though consumers will be able to buy it as well:

    https://techcrunch.com/2018/08/14/s...eye-tracking-and-a-double-wide-field-of-view/

    https://www.techradar.com/news/starvr-one-is-the-most-powerful-vr-headset-yet-and-you-cant-have-one

    https://old.reddit.com/r/Vive/comments/97brho/star_vr_one_the_stuff_you_might_have_missed/

    1. It has a microphone jack
    2. The ratchet also tightens the vertical strap (cool!)
    3. Has a dedicated runtime for steamvr games
    4. Can run one display per graphics card
    5. Claims zero lens distortion
    6. The sides don’t really extend much more than the vive out the side of your head.
    7. Automatic IPD adjustment using the integrated eye tracking.
    8. It’s not just 210 fov. It’s 210 horizontal. It’s your whole fov.
    9. I will hate this company forever if they don’t sell to consumers.
    10. The cable is 6 meters long.
    11. Optional link box with dual dp out.

Also fundamentally I think it has Tobii eye tracking which will be very important for foveated rendering in the future. Early Pimax test already show without it, it is hard to render on anything lower than a 1080ti

YO great news. Roadtovr made a hands on review on it and it’s looking like an amazing headset with a REALLY wide FOV that’s actually not straining on the eye. https://www.roadtovr.com/starvr-one-hands-on-most-complete-ultra-wide-fov-vr-headset-to-date/ Many have speculated that wide FOV can’t be done with non curved displays and such, but thank good they were wrong.

Also, even BETTER news: at the end of the article he says “ While StarVR is clear that it’s targeting a “premium” experience (and ostensibly, price) suitable for enterprise and commercial use, I’m told that they won’t shy away from selling the headset to individuals.”

YESSSSS so individuals can also buy it, praise the lord. Really hope it’s <$3k

Latest review and confirmation that consumers will be able to buy it when released, though no details on pricing (expect expensive):

If they get that out at a half reasonable price point it’ll be the end of pimax. Sounds like it’s going to be very expensive though.

Tried it a couple months ago. Was happy with how light weight it was.
