ladies and gentlemen, bots of all versions have you ever wanted to design your motion sim in 3D space first before heading to the hardware store and firing up the TIG welder?

For those that have, what software do you use?

How would you describe the rigging of objects for animation then importing the file into SimTools for testing?

Lastly, do you feel it has helped discover issues with design before running off to the hardware store and firing up the TIG welder?

    I am using Blender

Can't quite figure out how to rig bones to the joints with a child parent relationship getting the motors and platform to move like they should.

Once I can get it animated, I'll be able to tell if there are design issues. However I think I have designed a platform that can start off as a 2dof, then once the other 4 motors are acquired, easily convert to 6dof.

On a side note, trying to figure out a good design for removable shifter/ throttle n stick, and a keyboard n mouse platform (that won't get tossed cross the room from motion)

Depends on what part of the design/build process you want to spend your precious spare time in. I like to jump right in and start building things often from just a rough sketch on a piece of paper, it's not as if a Stewart Platform is something new design wise. There is even plenty of working examples on this site.
