I currently have a Rseat RS1 and can quite justify the cost of purchasing the base from them when i can simply just build the exact same platform.. All as i need to know is where can i get the Acuators and control box from in Australia?

I would also like to know if the SCN5's are capable of handling the weight ( My Sim already weighs 70Kg and will probably be adding another 70Kg to complete the build)?

Or should i use SCN6's .. ( i Still dont know the difference)

I also dont know which travel height i should aim for .. At the moment i am thinking that 150mm will be fine but if someone can persuade me to go more then i would like to hear some ideas.

The differences are in the specs, the SCN6s are a bit more robust and likely to better drive a heavier mass, but have you finalised the design yet?

See here re buying SNCs, there are no distributors that I am aware of in Australia: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/where-to-buy-scn5-and-scn6s.302/

But we do have Motion Dynamics if you want to go down the DC motor powered path.

No I haven't started the motion platform part yet .. I work In the metal industry so what i was thinking of doing is purchasing everything i need as in hardware and software then creating the motion base for it to all bolt to.

I know there are 2 D-box suppliers in Australia but the would be dear as poison to purchase anything from. I can get the D-box software but as for the controllers and actuators I was kinda hoping for a cheaper substitute.

I can easily construct a frame that would be identical to what they sell on rseataustralia.com, it would be easy for me.

As for the DC motor path I am quite interested.. I have not seen any so over the next few days will see what this site has to offer.

Yes they use d-box .. but the price is ridiculous.. for 300mm of travel they want 35k.

I think I can settle with 150mm that's fine but from what I can see the parts would only cost me 4k and I can build the rest.. I just dont know where to buy the actuators and controller from.

The rest is easy for me.

But like I said I am interested in all kinds of designs

Using the RSeat F1.. and I still 100% stand behind the concepts of my actuators.. They are not really difficult to make, but the way they attach to the frame is different then others.. In my case the leg is selfsupported and only attached to the frame at the ballscrew. this way the weight of the actuators is not withing the weight it needs to lift.. in my case that is a 45kg less weight..

I went over the top with my 12NM motors, I know but this way I have a lot of headroom to play with and I can lift incredibly fast.. up to a really uncomfortable level!

But for the upright position frames be carefull about where you put the height of the Center of gravity!!!
You want it to by on you ass and not underneath you frame.. otherwise it will give you feel of being on top of you car!

Somebody made a little animation of what I meant with the weight of the actuators

its alot more cheaper than a dbox .. and from what i have heard i wouldnt pay that kind of money anyhow.. i am actually thinking about producing these for people to buy.
