So basically I'm trying to get bang for my buck, and I was thinking about buying used rig or bulding my own.
I'm interested about maximum I can get, buy not sure what 2,5k can get me. Could you help me, and tell me what I can look upto in that budget?

What I pretty certain about is that I would be looking for a Direct Drive wheel, and as many DOF as I can get. 3 seems reasonable - but if I could build myself 6DOF in that price, that would be awesome ;) Also, I would be picking some VR equimpment, but not sure at the moment what is best option for me

Well $1000 for a wheel leaves you $1500. So 3dof worm gear would fit in your budget. Or 2 dof scn. As long as you have some fabrication skills to make a solid frame with out have to use aluminum extrusion

    Thanks, do you mean this?

Yeah, I could do something myself, it's not a problem, more the budget. Why should I pay so much for the wheel and what should I pick? Also, what rig to build?

For that budget, why would you want everything at once? Why not start with a simple rig and a good wheel, and later go for a motion rig?

I managed to build a crude 6 dof prototype for less than £600 plus £300 for seat and pedals and works surprising well so if you're resourceful you can get a lot for that money just make sure you don't buy until you know what you need

Because you said that you wanted a direct drive wheel and that is about the price of one. As far as choice i can say good things about osw and the bodnar steering system ($1000/$3000ish) but dont have experience with the other options. Id say you cant go wrong with osw but i know there are starting to be more options available

Don't forget the new Fanatec DD1, $1000,- and looking very promising.
