I don't find that enlightening at all.

It seems Lord Kunos is saying performance is an issue for VR and they have no control over that with UE4. But anyone using UE4 can have as much control as they like, right down to the source code, and UE4 already has VR support: https://www.unrealengine.com/en-US/ue4-on-github

Personally I can't be bothered with hand wringing because I am not the least bit interested in anything that does not support VR.

Yep i'll agree that i too won't be buying any none VR titles either mate,,,

Although for me that thread pretty much say's VR definitely won't be supported on early access release and don't keep your hopes up for the future ,,, ,, pretty depressing really seeing as there isn't anything else to look forward too for VR driving sims at the moment.

I question Lord Kunos directly and got what I consider childish responses regarding reasons for withdrawing VR support: http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/vr-support-yes-or-no.50080/page-9#post-978852

    Lord Kunos said:
sadly with a 3rd party engine like UE4 there isn't much we can do.

    noorbeast said:
Can I clarify what you mean, as even the source code is available for UE4?

    Lord Kunos said:
UE4 is a multimillion lines of code monster with a team of hundreds of the most talented devs in the world working on it full time.
Do you really think some italian dude can simply get in there and find performances if they can't?

    noorbeast said:
Yes I do, even indie devs should be optimising their work, irrespective of what engine they choose.

And UE4 has been successfully used by many devs for VR. If needed devs can even access the source code of the likes of Robot Recall and see how to properly structure a complex project for VR.

If you bother to contact the UE4 team I suspect they would be keen to help you out, as the last thing UE4 wants or needs is silly claims that it is difficult to optimise for VR, particularly as it is one of the two main engines that are utilised for most of the VR implementation in both gaming and other applications.

I already said what I think about Lord Kunos, as a programmer and as a man.

One thing's for sure: no VR, no way I can play the game. I really can't, I don't even have a monitor near my rig...
I could buy the game in EA just to support them and as a way to thank them for AC, but it would lay not-installed

I am very glad they brought VR back. It would be a huge step backwards without it. Now let's hope it will run as smooth as in AC itself.

Not that I'm counting down the days or anything. ;)

I seen this and didn't see the date and thought VR support had been pulled. Thank goodness. Only 4 days to go.

It will be very interesting to see how well a VR enabled racing sim performs with the Unreal 4 game engine.

I'm pretty sure that it will be a work in progress, with many tweaks and optimizations implemented over time.

Keep in mind that we're getting a 6 month Early Access peek before it's even officially released.

I'm already impressed with the first build which we have gotten, and it's a steal of a deal during this EA program.

Yes we are getting early access and I have already got the sim waiting. Fingers crossed as it looks amazing.
