Good, Fast or Cheap. You can only pick 2. I have chosen Good and Cheap, which means this project will take a while to complete.

The goal is to build a 2DOF platform influenced by a design of DOF Reality, having the motors located at the front of the platform. This is the design I'm referring to.

I plan on building with Aluminum. 80/20 looks great, easy to work with, easy to take back apart and easy to add future mods to. So far I've purchased 2 Motomonster Shields, Some Arduino Unos and a wiper motor (
    WSO W0133-1733321 Windshield Wiper Motor)
that I performed the ground mod on detailed here.

I tried powering the wiper motor with a tranformer I took out of something a while ago. The transformer put out 12v at less than 6 amps.

After converting the AC from the transformer to DC by making a bridge rectifier from other parts stripped from the same board

it will move the motor using an Arduino and Racingmats code here.

But it's really slow. Probably not enough current. I will build a proper power supply for it when the time comes.

So far I have made two Arduino Models using eaorobbie's genius design here https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/rc-model-for-motion-simulation.4600/

My first model was a 2dof seat mover pictured here.

I gotta tell ya, when it finally worked it felt amazing. I felt like I can do this.
Unfortunately, I live in a small place and surmise that mounting the motors at the back to move the platform creates too much length.

My second model here has the servos up front moving a platform. I like this design since the motors and push rods are hidden underneath the platform where the pedals will be. I will keep the length to a minimum even after the traction loss attachement.

There will be a third servo, face down at the back of the platform that will have connections to a lower frame for traction loss.

I was hoping to make a scale model, but popsicle sticks are pretty wimpy and I had to overcompensate a lot.

    More to come.

My first chair moving model was very satisfying, even if it was only the mouse making it move. I used two hitec hs 322d servos and an Arduino Uno.

And here is the second model, with traction loss and the pitch and roll servos located at the front. I am playing Live For Speed and have Extra 1 going to the rear servo. All I had to do was follow the instructions laid out here https://www.xsimulator.net/community/threads/my-project-guide-me.5682/#post-59262

After discovering I could assign more than one DOF to each axis, I changed my settings to the following in Simtools. settingss1.jpg settings 2.jpg

The Arduino model really comes to life. I'm running through a rally track in LFS here tuning the traction losss and sway. Looking forward to testing this in iRacing.

Some partial shopping has been done.
    3x Moto Monster Shield
Arduino Uno clone for motion control
Stop switches (only three so far)
One wiper motor so far, two more to go
Adafruit Motorshield V2 for running SimHub rumble motors and bass shakers.

Still researching power supplies for wiper motor. Looks like more current is better for these guys. Thinking a 12v 50 amp power supply for each.

I was checking out some of the aluminum for sale at a local store. It would be a lot cheaper and convenient for me to be able to use this stuff, but it would take some ingenuity to make it rigid enough.
