    Welcome @Angus.

While it may seem a little daunting at first converting to and setting up SimTools is not too bad: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/

Though it takes a bit of experience to become proficient at creating motion profiles: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/steps-to-create-a-motion-profile.228/

When you are ready please start your own thread in the Commercial rigs section: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/commercial-simulators-and-peripherie.52/

    Hi Guys,

    New here,

I am looking into buying a 3 dof motion platform (used in combination with vr) which I will be mainly using for flight sims (DCS, Aerofly and elite). After weeks of browsing the internet it seems that hardware is more than available (simukit is only 30 min away from where I live and there is a dealer in the area of next level motion platforms and there are some other dealers in France as well).

The software part (especially for flight sims) on the other hand seems to be another kind of story. I read a lot of mixed story’s from ok to not working at all. That's why i registered here.

I would like to connect to other flight sim enthusiast who have a motion platform

Btw, i fly sailplanes (gliders) in real life during the summer months.

    Welcome ThomD.

We have a specific flight sim thread section for general review and discussion: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/#flight-simulation-games.141

But when it comes to commercial rigs and how they may or may not suit flight sim games then that discussion should be in the commercial thread section: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/forums/commercial-simulators-and-peripherie.52/

You may also want to do a bit of research on G-Seats and harneses, which can convey more sustained G-force simulation than traditional rigs: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/search/9186793/?q=G-seat&o=date

Transducers also add a lot to the VR experience: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/game-vibe-transducers.25/category

    Hello,
Here are some pics of my SIM racing setup. It is my workshop, office, and gaming center all in one. I am using Oculus Rift for Visual, T300RS Wheel with Jack Spade mod for the force feedback, T3PA PRO pedals, TH8A shifter, ebay handbrake (joystick mod), SimVibe with ADX Maximus tactile transducers in the seat, pedals, and under the wheel. I hope to add discrete motion and other bits to further improve immersion.

    Hi!!!
I'm a tech teacher in Spain.
A few years ago, I made an interface panel to X-Plane, using an Arduino Teensy.
I have a pupil who wants to build an interface to play with Euro Truck Simulator, that's why I'm here.

    Welcome @drancope.

The demo version of SimTools includes the fully functional plugin for Live For Speed, specifically for testing purposes, so I suggest your student start with that.

You don't even need a simulator, your student can use the 2DOF simulator application to become familiar with SimTools and motion simulation: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/simulating-a-2dof-simulator.278/

The FAQs are a great place to look for information on SimTools and all aspects of motion simulation. Your student may be interested in building a working motion simulator model: https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/build-a-working-model-to-test-your-design-ideas.216/

The members here give freely of their time and expertise, so if your student has further questions after reviewing the \FAQs then please post a follow up question or have your student show off their own work.

Hello everyone and congratulations for the forum
I'm Giorgio and I write from Italy, I'm passionate about motosports and driving simulators.
I assembled a gaming pc, I built an artisan guide station made of wood with a rally seat. Next step is to convert in alluminium structure.
I currently use the simvive system to get a deeper level of immersion in the game.
The next step is to make my dynamic location use Simtools.
I am studying the works and the advice of this community, I have been able to read the data of LFS with Simtools and the next step will be to buy motors and drives.
    See you on the track.

    Hello folks!

My name is Bruno, i'm from Brazil and I had several ideas about acquiring a 3D motion simulator.

I just loved this community, very useful and contains a lot of materials.

I'm thinking about build the mechanical parts of my (future) 2DOF simulator with a 3D printer...I'm still doing research, I don't even know if it's possible...

    My skills:

    Mechanical: zero ...

    Electrical: the basics

    Programming: good skills!

    Hi there! :)

I'm new in this community. I have a 2DOF project already working with x-sim simulator but lately I am really upset with the software (it doesn't work as expected...).
Is there any possibility to find trial licenses for xsimulator software? Im really interested on it, but I would like to see it working before I purchase for a license :)

    Kind regards,
    Goskar

The demo version of simtools and live for speed demo are what you need for testing

You might be eligible for a diy licence if you put up a build thread

    @goskar see @sam poole's succinct summary above.

The demo version of SimTools comes bundled with the fully function plugin for Live For Speed, specifically for testing purposes: https://www.xsimulator.net/simtools-motion-simulator-software/

Conditions apply but if met DIY members can be eligible for a DIY licensed version of SimTools for free, see here for details and eligibility criteria: https://www.xsimulator.net/request-diy-key-simtools/

Be aware of the relationship and revenue sharing arrangements between SimTools (motion software) and Xsimulator.net (community support and community developed plugins): https://www.xsimulator.net/community/faq/simtools-and-xsimulator-partnership-explained.275/

    Welcome @Andrew Rose.

Motion rigs do cost but at the same time leaning on the expertise of the active community here can help minimise that, so start your build thread and after doing some research ask questions before you start buying a heap of hardware, as the community can help save your time, money and frustration.

I look forward to following your build thread.

Got a DOF Reality P3 3DOF motion simulator. Working on figuring out SimTools and configuring it for my Sim.
I've got Fanatec CSL Elite wheel base, Fanatec V3 inverted pedals, SRS Wind Simulator, Buttkicker, Thrustmaster HOTAS Flight X, ForceFeel 08, vib seat pad.
I do a lot of endurance racing and coaching and use the sim to learn new tracks and practice in the offseason.
